Captain Kieran Duffy says Monaghan have to up their standards if they’re to compete hard in Ulster again. Duffy - in his 14th year with the county - reckons the quality of Ulster sides has “really risen.”

Captain Kieran Duffy believes Monaghan must improve their standards to compete in Ulster . He acknowledges the rise in quality of Ulster teams, with Monaghan and Derry reaching the All-Ireland semi-finals last year.

Monaghan's best Championship season since 2018 was ended by Tyrone in the semi-finals. Despite winning two Ulster titles in recent years, Monaghan has not won the Anglo-Celt Cup in eight years.
