A woman was attacked by a dog in Bothwell and was rushed to the hospital. Police Scotland has launched an investigation into the incident.

A woman was rushed to hospital after being attacked by a dog in Bothwell . The incident happened at around 10.40am today (Friday, February 9) in the Silvertrees area of the Lanarkshire town. Police Scotland confirmed they have launched an investigation into the "full circumstances". A spokesperson said: "Around 10.40am on Friday, February 9, we were made aware of a woman being attacked by a dog in the Silvertrees area of Bothwell . The woman attended at hospital for treatment.

Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances." Bothwell Post Office issued a warning to the public on social media following the incident, saying the woman was trying to protect her puppy. They said: "A bulldog/bully type dog got off its owner’s leash and attacked a puppy. Whilst trying to separate the dogs, the owner of the puppy was bitten in the face.
