Easter eggs, milk, exercise weights, garden plants, shampoo, children's colouring books - just what exactly should you go out shopping for during the coronavirus lockdown?
The government's restrictions brought in on 23 March says people should only be leaving their houses for"very limited purposes" - one of those is to buy"basic necessities".two people who had met at a house party and were"going to the shops for non-essential items".While someIt's led some shoppers to question what they can buy when heading to the shops.
The range open 🤷🏼♂️
I went into BnMstores for some milk, their socks and underwear section was taped off but people had free reign across the rest of the store. It appears I could have bought a bedside lamp but not a pack of knickers 😳
Just noticed my condoms expired 6 years ago ... best I add them to my shopping list. Never know when I might need them again...! 🥴
Food, Easter eggs right now and a smile when we pass someone two meters from us. Simple really.
I work for a non-essential retailer who has kept it's online platform going and been cleared to do so as meets all H&S requirements in the warehouse, while other non-essential retailers have been 'one for all and all for one' and closed even online platforms. Well done them 👏👏
Sauv Blanc (preferably New Zealand)
If you do the weekly shop for food to create up to 7 days of meals and snacks and there is an offer on,why can't you buy it, you are on an essential shopping trip and treats are essential to mental health and wellbeing. 😄😷😁
My bed
My pillow
Internet
What a load of old shit! If a shop is open and is deemed so within the Govt. guidance, whatever it’s selling is ‘essential’. 🤬
Anything that is in the supermarket. There is no restrictions on what people can buy and this type of crap gutter journalism is exactly why people want to see the bbc shut down.
People who buy alcohol and cigarettes should be fined
I have not been questioned once when out buying things and I go 3 or 4 times a day as I’m buying for the elderly in my village. People will buy what they need not what they are told to. I consider beer, wine and Bombay mix essential!
I understand shops don’t want us to browse but if they have items in store we should be allowed to buy it. Take things you aren’t supposed to be selling off the shelves and use that space for more of the most sought after items.
TV Licence, that's a 'not needed' !
Essential items are what the individual deems them to be..... of course there’s the basics but one person’s opinion is different to another.... we need to be able too to have a few luxuries at home, just to keep our sanity in check
If you time the 3 S's right you can do without the toilet paper 😉
Bacon, bacon is all you really need.
Erm 🤔 wine...gin...rum....beer...🤔 wine oooohh olives, cheese, bread...yeah that.
Essential is obvious. It’s things that take your mind off the present lockdown. We need it lifted ASAP.
My Partner doesn’t take milk but i do in tea and coffee so milks essential to me but not her probably a swing ball isn’t the most essential but if you are lucky enough to have a garden and kids who can’t go out as they would normally do it might Break up the day a bit for them
Not really relevant, not sure why some authorities have made it as such.
Surely essential things are different for different people and lifestyles
I bought plants today when I was in the supermarket shopping for ‘essentials’ one trip, one shop. If you shouldn’t buy it why is it available? IMO plants are essential for my mental health
If people are going to object to compost and plants being on sale then I am going to object to alcohol, cigarettes and lottery tickets being on sale.
Why is there any confusion at all? All you have do is separate what you might potentially buy into three categories. Things you NEED Things you want Things you can manage without. And then only buy what’s in the first category...
All food is essential if thats all you can get. If people want to pick up none essential items whilst they are out buying essential items so what? They still had to go out to the shops anyway. Ill buy whatever i want and go to the shops as many times as i require.
Sometimes it's about mental health. If buying a packet of seeds or tin of paint enables some people to deal with the situation better & improve their MH, then that's important too. Obvs all distancing advice etc.
People must not use outside exercise as an excuse for picking up a newspaper, an Easter egg etc. The main point is to reduce physical interaction with other people. The fact that infection rate is rising means there are people spreading the disease to others.
You 'shop' when you need essential items, you 'buy' whatever else you fancy from the store when you go. So if you need Milk and Bread etc. then when you go fo it you buy anything else whilst out.
Of course tthere are a few essential items that everyone needs... And one of those is Huel! gethuel
Those are the 3 main ways to wipe your bum
There's no confusion, people know what they want and they go and get it
If someone goes out just to buy Easter eggs that’s not essential but if you’re out for bread, milk food for the family etc and you pick up an egg that fine.
Essentials are going to be different from person to person, whether it be based on their own dietary needs due to medical issues or allergies. Not everyone will think bread, milk, sugar, tea, coffee, and so on are essential.
If it's on the shelves in local supermarket then it's ESSENTIAL
I don’t know about anyone else, but for me it’s choccy biccies.
Food is essential, so anything you put on your mouth is essential no matter what it is. Just my 2 cents.
If you need it to get through these troubled times then it is essential
The truth.
The ability to switch off all scaremongery news.
Toilet roll, plants, Easter eggs. Got it!
Since pubs and bars are closed ?
STOP WITH THE PROPAGANDA. What is essential to one person will not be essential to another. You are part of the problem, not the solution.
What is Royal Mail still posting glossy contaminated junk mail junk food menus through our letterboxes- this will have a detrimental effect in self isolation and the vulnerable please address this 🙏
A beating heart?
Leave it to reporters to make coronavirus all about themselves. Freaks
