Teachers' predictions will be used for grades in exams stopped by the coronavirus outbreak.

Paul Whiteman, leader of the National Association of Head Teachers, said there was no"perfect solution".

In Wales and Northern Ireland, details are expected to be published later with plans for cancelled exams But they will also be asked to put students in order of expected achievement within each predicted grade band. This could mean adjusting the grades suggested by teachers if they seem too generous or harsh, or unlikely in the context of previous results at a school - and to make the overall distribution of grades consistent with other years.

The results will be available to students no later than the planned dates in August - but Ofqual suggested that they may be available sooner. There have been proposals to have an alternative exam that pupils could take in the autumn - with Ofqual saying arrangements have still to be confirmed.

It’s so unfair, my daughter went up in her maths mock from a grade 4 to a grade 6 with a few private lessons, she could easily achieve a 7 in May given the chance Thankfully this was her weakest subject but I hope they take into account how much the kids improve from their mocks

Yipeee

rip

What about University exams

BTEC's? Just being told to 'carry on as normal at home'. The word can't be completed without physical guidance. If I could 'carry on as normal at home' why did I go to college for 2 years? ofqual sort it out.

This is a stupid and ridiculous idea. Predictive grades are not accurate on final grades at all. No student puts in as much effort as their final exams and surely you can’t retrospectively grade students on something they never knew they were being assessed on

Would have been better to delay exams till later this year or next summer instead

This is privileging the already privileged. This is class biased and profoundly unfair. Class Rank and School Performance, seriously? At least this is England only, poor kids.
