Hospital Shooting Leads to Post Office Hostage Standoff in Japan

At approximately 14:15 local time , two individuals, believed to be women in their 20s and 30s, were captured by the assailant.The motives behind the gunman’s actions remain unclear. He is suspected to have been involved in a shooting earlier on Tuesday at the nearby Toda Chuo General Hospital, which took place around 13:00 local time.

Two individuals, identified as a doctor and an elderly patient, sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Video footage depicting a man armed with a gun standing at the post office entrance, located about 2.5km from the hospital, has been circulating.Reports from Japanese media, citing unnamed police sources, suggest that the hostage-taker at the post office is the same individual involved in the hospital shooting. He is believed to have fled the hospital on a motorcycle.Residents in nearby buildings in the bustling residential area have been advised to stay indoors.
