A false photo of a meteor captured during the earthquake in Mindanao is circulating on social media. The photo was taken in India and has no connection to the earthquake.

There was no meteor captured on camera during the Magnitude 7.4 earthquake that rocked parts of Mindanao at 10:37 p.m. on Saturday. Facebook user Yrram Neaj Sonreb Itmana posted the false photo following the tremor that shook parts of Mindanao in the southern Philippines. (My Huawei phone’s night camera captured this during the earthquake),” the caption reads. The post had been taken down at 9 a.m. Sunday, December 3, but not before some Facebook users have been able to take screenshots of it.
