Why are politicians more worried about homosexuality than we are? l jacquelinemaley

Future generations will, I suspect, look back on us and wonder why our politicians were so concerned with homosexuality. Of all the things for public figures to handwring over, the sexuality of constituents seems the strangest.Alex Ellinghausen

Thanks to Israel Folau, it came up this week via a question from a couple of perspicacious reporters on the hustings.Tom McIlroy asked if Morrison’s views on same-sex marriage had changed, and James O’Doherty of Sky followed up with: “What’s your belief, do gay people go to hell?”Morrison didn’t answer directly. “I support the law of the country and I always don’t mix my religion with politics and my faith with politics,” he said.

“I cannot believe that the Prime Minister has not immediately said that gay people will not go to hell,” Shorten told reporters in Tasmania on Tuesday. The pro-SSM lobby and many ordinary Australians, gay and not, hold a grudge against the Coaltion for forcing us through a painful and expensive postal vote process just to avoid a split in its own party room.

JacquelineMaley A quick read, so why bother asking a politician who follows God if gay people will go to hell, it’s a no brainer Yes, but can repent. It’s the 🏳️‍🌈 that want it vilify Politicians who disagree with their lifestyle. I am over the 🏳️‍🌈 we’re special attitude their not.

JacquelineMaley Becuse the impending demographic changes in Australia don't bode well for gay rights or personal freedoms for that matter

JacquelineMaley Again another tough article. I’m conservative, Centre right and like most have a lot of gay mates. But that’s thing for us, no one cares. A good person is a good person and a flog is a flog. There’s no colour, sexuality or anything that’ll get in the way of that

JacquelineMaley Which politicians? Who are 'we'? auspol

JacquelineMaley Why would any society create laws against homosexuality? Because that behaviour is unhealthy. Why would the SMH fail to tell us that? Why would the SMH fail to protect our youth? Perhaps Jacqueline Maley can tell us that.

JacquelineMaley NO. You made this possible. Endless and countless articles about Israel Foloau. Seriously, I'm gay and wasn't the least offended. He's entitled to his view. But you grubs couldn't let it go. And then the Libs won the election. That's what's known as a backlash.

JacquelineMaley They're more likeky to be conservative religious people, which makes them less diverse than the community.

JacquelineMaley They are not worried, they just want the homovote newword inmyview auspol19

JacquelineMaley it`s just never going to stop.

Time to stop polling and start listening: why we got election so wrongA leading social researcher admits she got it wrong. So did many others, including in the Coalition. What do we learn from it? There's a strong case in political circles for mobile numbers to be included in the White Pages so that pollsters can undertake random sampling, as they used to do with landline numbers. Without random sampling, polling results are notoriously unreliable. ...National landslides may well be a thing of the past in a nation that looks as fractured as the national vote seems to indicate. MAY BE. Jesus, seriously. Nationwide movements died with friggin MTV. These people get paid? auspol Maybe because you have a short memory of what Morrison is capable of.
