ANALYSIS: 'We scared the s**t out of them': Why WA voters couldn’t stomach Shorten’s Labor

Labor thought the federal election was its big chance in Western Australia to seriously eat into blue territory in a key Liberal heartland.

After Labor's landside state election victory in 2017, the party wanted to show that it could be taken seriously in the west "I think the fact that [WA] supported this government sent a message nationally — a bit of an earthquake nationally, to be honest — that Western Australia could not be taken for granted," WA Premier Mark McGowan said late last year.

Labor was hoping the federal election would represent a sizeable aftershock in WA to follow that 2017"earthquake", but that could not have been further from reality. Bill Shorten's Opposition made no secret of the fact that it began the election campaign with its eyes on five WA seats, with big-name Liberals Christian Porter, Ken Wyatt and Andrew Hastie among those in its crosshairs.

You didn't scare the shit out of anyone. We just can't afford to have anyone make our country go debt.

In WA we needed a premier opposed to right wing Fed gov as we needed our stolen GST back in tough times. However we also do not want our hard earned money ripped off by eastern states Labor. We are not ideologically driven, we chose to look after our own.

Wouldn't have anything to do with the bombardment of radio ads and cold calls for the last several weeks talking bullshit about baby-killers and targeting bigots for fear mongering....

“that Western Australia could not be taken for granted,' WA Premier Mark McGowan said late last year.” Spot on, we’re no fools. We know that McGowan hedged about being too linked to Shorten as he realised he was a loser. Not much help while over here. Clever Man our Macca. 🤣🤣🤣

How come the AEC tally room is saying 76 seats and the ABC is saying 73?

NOT SCARED, JUST BRAINLESS. TWOTS.

Their policy & costings were never fully explained - Why would people vote for the unknown? big mistake... unless of course they hadnt costed it
