A man has tried to pull a teenage girl into a car in a terrifying attempted abduction after approaching her on a busy Melbourne street. The 16-year-old victim was walking on the corner of Hotham St and Denman Ave in St Kilda East on October 18 when the man came up to her just before 6pm. She told police the man repeatedly asked her if she “wanted to go somewhere with him”.
He then grabbed her by the arm and tried to force her into a white sedan, but the teenager managed to pull free and ran away. She was not physically injured. On Wednesday, police released a computer-generated image of a man they believe can assist with the investigation and have urged anyone with information to contact them. He is believed to be aged in his 20s or early 30s and is about 179cms tall with short black hair styled with gel.
