Employment Minister Michaelia Cash says we need to look for new skilling opportunities because “the reality is we are living longer and so many people are opting to stay in the workforce for longer”.

Ms Cash told Sky News on Tuesday the government wants put in place new programs that can “allow people to up-skill or re-skill and potentially enter a new

career should you choose”. She said the prime minister has made it "very clear" that there will be no movement in the retirement age. Image: News Corp Australia

Funny how she’s got a job with no skills whatsoever

Michaelia Cash is Employment Minister? Well, that's it, we're fucked.

No, you keep moving the goalposts for retirement, so we have to work longer. It’s amazing how you can’t touch neg gearing and franking credits because people have made plans around them, but want to fiddle with retirement age

I heard she past away

how many people over 50 do you employ?

Cash and co are nothing but a shit show.

She really is thick isn't she? No clue. People have to work longer because the pension age is rising & women, especially, don't have enough super (if any) to provide for their remaining years. We can't all be MPs, sucking up to the correct faction & get looked after till we die!

If you’re in the workforce, why do you need to look for new skilling? I doubt many elderly people elect to resign or retire and then decide its time to start a new career. Utter nonsense. Should have know when it begins Michaelia Cash says...... auspol

Clever move winning an election by telling retirees they will lose money if they don’t vote for you then taking their entire retirement away.

Politicians should not get there pension till they're 67! Just like everyone else. That will save us enough to pay for real pensioners.

One of the worst things about the USA is all the extremely elderly people still working crappy jobs. It’s frigging sad. Is that what LNP want for Australia?

‘Opting’? Good one Mich. Nah, they’re too poor to retire. But you don’t care....

Then their should be more funding for it. Im 59yrs old and due to a compo injury can no longer do admin work. Im studying childcare self funded to change career and getting $250 a week to live on and expected to look for 15 jobs pm

And what about the people who are in their mid sixties, and want to work, but can only do certain types of jobs. As in if people are suffering from arthritis or other degenerating medical problems.

Got 1 life on this planet by the grace of god an you traitors want us to be economic slaves to finance your lifestyles. Why 2 sets of rules with retirement and allowances? Because you are all oppressive traitors that sold our country and squandered our revenue and mineral wealth

Oh the irony, that coming from MichaeliaCash who has no skills at all

Maybe they could band together and open a whiteboard factory?

Put her in Gail

What she's saying is, stay working until you die, then we don't have to pay you a pension. Good for Federal Budget. They think we're stupid. 😏

I love these announcements from govt numpties without any suggestions on how to go about this or any actual couses/insentives to achieve this. All they do is sprout rubbish and fade back into the ether.

Why make the fo0cus breeding rather than working. I always thought staying at home and looking after the family/home was a full time job and should be paid for.

What age will you be working till minister?

Fake news workers are not opting to stay in work longer they are being forced too by this ridiculous government

Opting to stay in the workforce longer is a bit of an overreach

Opting, but not by choice.

Where is the index to the Super Guarantee that would provide older people with a satisfactory retirement with sufficient to live on?

Brony junior is self serving & deluded. New jobs for retirees Appropriate payment for volunteer careers the 67+ year olds are already doing at no cost to the govt. How is this brain rabble of underperforming IPA servants going to come up with imaginary jobs?

The word is jobs. Where are the jobs?

She’s only just worked this out ? Good grief !!!

Get immigrants off our pension.

Learn to code, boomer.

The lies you sprout are losing you customers Rupe old man 🤨

Get some new skills for jobs that aren’t there anyway...LNP logic

So much BS! Michaelia Cash has no clue. Try making sure our young people can actually get apprenticeships. They need them when they are young - under 20 - NOT when they are 75, worn out, and likely ailing.

She has no idea, wait, Sliver spoon in her mouth! The digital age has and will continue for jobs to be lost and the ones created will need more than skills, higher qualification! How will a person in there mid 50s get a sustainable job?

This woman needs to be drug tested. She’s on something.

out of touch.

I want retrain as a white board builder!🔨😂

'opting' yeah ok...

Well I won't be. Engineering Design is getting outsourced to India as we speak. Pity the results are so bad, but it's about $ not safety.

Not opting being forced to so they can claim Newstart. You are a disgrace, get back behind the whiteboard.

The question journos need to ask SenatorCash is: Will she work past retirement age? Where are all these jobs for older Australians? & Will our health system cope with the multiple injuries older Australians will suffer from.

More people dying younger

Hey stupid how about reality, job sharing and better wages

When will this government stop bullshiting the public . Wake up Australia lose your job after you turn 50 there is no work !!

Need to get rid of the Westminster system Federal Government saving $3.6 billion a week...

Michaelia is doing well without any skills, what is the issue?

Why does this woman always have a stupid look on her face?

How many billion a year do we waste on franking credits?

'Opting...........' 😆🤣😆🤣😆🤣😆🤣😆🤣😆🤣😆🤣😆🤣😆🤣😆🤣😆🤣😆🤣😆🤣😆🤣😆🤣😆🤣😆🤣😆🤣😆🤣😆🤣😆🤣😆🤣😆

I can't stand this person. Full of self importance and not much more.

‘Opting’ 🙄🙄 We don’t earn what you earn ya know, nor do we have your super, your regular pay rises, your health cover, your security, your cozy networks, your influence or your pensions! We are doing it cause we bloody have too! auspol

Lookout 'Old Whiteboard' is up and about

Slow clap for the brain dead liberal voters..... You did it again 😂 😂 😂

employers reading this tweet, can you please let us know that if you had a choice between a young worker who is reliable honest and has with great skills, and an older worker with exactly the same, who do you choose?

Opting? BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA nobody is buying this optional bullshit, fraudenberg came out and said we can't afford the pension as he spent it on tax cuts and franking credits so you need people to work until they die to keep funnelling money to your mates in the 1%....

Lol CrookedMichaelia can’t even find work for young people! It’s an absolute clown show 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡 The Liberals starve wages and cause a retail recession because nobody has money to spend. Now they’re expecting pensioners to get jobs to save the economy! auspol

Really? There are plenty of very skilled older people who still don't get hired. New skills or not. Who will hire them? Who'll teach them? What skills? They can't do trade type stuff...too slow and physical impairment after they're about 50- everyone slows down.

Older people to stay in the workforce Also older people less likely to be employed

An irritating woman who actually didn't say much at all apart from 'Ha, ha suckers! I won't have to wait until 67 for my overly generous pension.'

Does that mean we’re stuck with her ugly snearing mug until she’s using a walking frame Bet not. One rule for those political leeches and another for real workers.😡🤬👎🏻

Only coz we have to

Who the hell voted for her?

“Opting to stay in the workforce” is a euphemism for “Can’t afford to retire”

SenatorCash the Banshee of the LiberalAus MoreLiberalBullshit

So where are the jobs including the ones we gave away to OS nations 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

We could polish the blades on wind turbines, clean solar panels or even polish the shoes of politicians in Canberra?

“opting to stay in the workforce longer” - an interesting choice of words by this govt who want to raise the pension age to 70 and telling 60+ year olds they need to “retrain”. LNPFail

The skills are there, employers prefer to fake skills shortages and import cheaper resources. Fix that

that's because LNP economic policies have failed Australians with zero wage growth & no shared benefits from a stalled economy. Now stealing senior citizens income & final life years is admitting failure of your own economic policies. JacquiLambie centre_alliance OneNationAus

China 'can do as they like' following MP visa cancellation | Sky News AustraliaSky News contributor Gemma Tognini says 'I was really quite surprised' by China's call for Liberal MPs to 'repent' before being allowed into the country. \n\nChina is demanding Liberal MPs Andrew Hastie and James Paterson 'repent and redress their mistakes' if they want to visit Beijing. \n\nThe pair were due to travel to the country as part of a study tour, however on Friday it was revealed their visas had been cancelled. \n\nBoth MPs have publicly criticised China for recent human rights abuses, as well as perceived attempts to exert influence in Australia. \n\nMs Tognini defend the Chinese government's ability to 'say whatever it likes and allow whoever it likes into its country'. \n\n'Let's not pretend the Australian government doesn't enjoy the same sovereignty,' she said. \n\nImage: Getty It just goes to show what a sick and twisted regime it really is. The people of Hong Kong know what they’re in for and Hastie’s treatment by China is actually farcical. Should be of no surprise based on many media reports over time of people and nations having to accept the way of the emperor and bow down in order to do business and interact with this great nation. The pope would be envious of the emperors power over the world. Obviously not enough brown paper bags with the Visa application.
