Sky News contributor Gemma Tognini says "I was really quite surprised" by China's call for Liberal MPs to "repent" before being allowed into the country. China is demanding Liberal MPs Andrew Hastie and James Paterson "repent and redress their mistakes" if they want to visit Beijing.
The pair were due to travel to the country as part of a study tour, however on Friday it was revealed their visas had been cancelled. Both MPs have publicly criticised China for recent human rights abuses, as well as perceived attempts to exert influence in Australia. Ms Tognini defend the Chinese government's ability to "say whatever it likes and allow whoever it likes into its country".
I guess we need to raise more Chinese flags over Aussie police stations? At least China can’t say that Aussie polies didn’t try to reach out. Go to the USA instead, it would be far more interesting!
