On Monday, Equifax settled with the US Federal Trade Commission over its 2017 data breach, which affected 147 million Americans.
The settlement of up to $700 million includes as much as $425 million for individual compensation. How stupid...they want my name and last SIX digits of my social security to see if I have been affected after they already proved they can't protect data? With six numbers it's not hard to find the other three. Why would anyone give them more Info?
Ten years of free credit monitoring. How many employees do they staff to carry out that action? One?
You have to prove how you were harmed by the breach and provide documentation if you want $. Otherwise the only thing you get is free credit monitoring by the company that screwed you to begin with 🙄
