Starbucks apologized Saturday after an employee reportedly asked 6 officers to leave in one of the company's stores in a Phoenix suburb because a customer reported feeling unsafe.

Saturday after an employee reportedly asked six officers to leave one of the company's stores in a Phoenix suburb because a customer reported feeling unsafe.

"When those officers entered the store and a customer raised a concern over their presence, they should have been welcomed and treated with dignity and the utmost respect by our partners ," Rossann Williams said."Instead, they were made to feel unwelcome and disrespected, which is completely unacceptable."

The Tempe Officers Association said the officers had bought their drinks and were standing together before their shift started when a barista asked them to move out of the customer’s line of sight or leave. The barista knew one of the officers by name because he's a regular customer, according to the association.statement

Williams said Sunday that she had spoken to the police chief and was en route to Tempe to meet with her and employees at Starbucks.

Too late ... boycott it !

I am very uncomfortable with the fact that a patron felt uncomfortable with 6 police officers drinking coffee!

🖕🖕🖕🖕Starsucks

Why would u feel UNSAFE if the police are there? Smh

People who feel unsafe around police officers MAKE ME FEEL UNSAFE.

I was raised to respect the police. I have worked side by side with them throughout my career. Most are military vets. I'm curious WHY this 'uncomfortable' customer felt so uneasy... 🤔?

They needed to!!!!!

Most probably the customer feeling unsafe is a criminal

Disgusting. If police don’t keep us safe from groups like Antifa who will?

Too late...

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣... what goes around comes around

Starbucks

Are you kidding next time the customer needs help they should call a liberal

Too late, too little

Seems weird they were asked to leave

No worries. Starbucks will never replace DD for police breaks.

F**k Starbucks!

Unsafe = hate in this scenario.

Starbucks su*ks

If you are a minority you are really unsafe around local cops. 🤷🏻‍♂️ cenkuygur joerogan johniadarola

The idea that a Policeman or Policewoman makes you feel unsafe is a feeling that someone should have, only and only if they've committed a crime or intend to commit one.

I feel unsafe around some men. Can I ask that they are told to leave?

BoycottStarbucks Double standard. Muslims are ruining our country.

Now they know how it feels to be discriminated against because of their color blue, IJS.

I feel unsafe every time I see a cop, as I would seeing shark hungry meal.

That is totally crazy 😪😪😪

Only crooks don't feel safe around the police. The person who should leave is the one who felt unsafe around cops.

To late Starbucks to late

Fire the employee please

I guess that sensitivity training didn’t take.

Probably nervous because they were wanted for a crime!

Thank you Starbucks

Starbucks employee should have suggested the one customer move out of sight or leave if he/she felt uncomfortable instead of asking 6 police officers to leave.

6 vs 1 paying customers? Must not pay bonuses on store performance that or the manager at the time isn’t very good at math!

Over priced, shitty coffee. Unamerican. Anti police.

A Tempe police officer shot and killed a 14-year-old boy, then edited the body cam footage to remove the boy's body from the tape. I think people have a reason to feel uncomfortable around officers from that area.

Here’s the uncomfortable customer

Welcome cops if someone is feeling unsafe in front of police officials maybe they have something to hide well meaning cops should be applauded and Starbucks should apologize.

Starbucks has Corporate Derangement Syndrome.

Is this how soft our country has become? My goodness...

The officers should have refused and then told them if they don’t like it they should call the ...... oh wait?

Law enforcement ppl should be feeling free to be sitting , eating or drinking coffee ☕️ in any of these business! Being a police is a job!

Moving on.

I’d love to see who that customer was. Probably some white hipster nobody.

What's to apologize for. Since when is Starbucks Dunkin Donuts.

No need to apologise, Starbucks

Liberals are crazy

However, AZ cops & their treatment of the pregnant couple with kids was nerve wracking to watch..so

It’s all right. I think these police officers have more character than the snowflake that couldn’t stand being in the same room with them.

From one extreme to another 🙄 Now go on another one day of shutdown to educate staff about overreacting 🤔

Nope. After the fact apology = nothing. The customer should have been asked to leave if they were uncomfortable.

Pockets full of drugs?

Feeling unsafe is feeling unsafe regardless of who you are idc

It's about time for the people to start saying something about the police all the police like to use excessive force they like to take advantage of their power and treat people like s*** I do not trust the police

APOLOGY YOU SHOWED YOUR TRUE INTENT NOW U R WORRIED ABOUT THE MONEY U WILL B LOSING BECAUSE WE R NOT COMING THERE ANY MORE

An apology is not good enough.

This incident seems bass-ack-wards to me.

The employee who asked 06 Police officers to leave Starbucks store is a product of our modern educational system. What made the employee to believe - any customer can possibly feel unsafe in a presence police officers? The customer had to be a criminal, no? EducationMatters

Aww, cops getting the same treatment as the civilians they are meant to protect and serve. Change the culture at the station, then you can bitch about it.

Wonder why the customer felt uncomfortable? Would be great to hear there side of the story.

Wow!!! I wish I could ask folks to leave when don’t feel safe luckily no undesirables come into cracker bArrell or the ammo store

Hmmm... The shoe on the other foot, eh!

After those cops attack a pregnant woman and baby.. in that state I can’t blame them.

Hope they go out of business!

Read the story, they did not ask them to leave. The officers DECIDED to leave!

Fuck Starbucks

Cops should not be killing people because they can and then maybe they won’t be asked to leave restaurants.

We really need to stop these jerk offs from California from moving into Arizona.

Next time . Tell that 'uncomfortable' customer to take it to go!.those that pay their lives on the line every day deserve respect!

Now, will they close for a day for an employee training session?

Will Starbucks close all their stores for several hours for training?

Arizona standing up for Itself again. Love 🌵

It's going to be a long 911 waiting call for Starbucks

Aquí dejan entrar sin bronca hasta a carteristas .....

Starbucks apologized Saturday after an employee reportedly asked 6 officers to leave in one of the company's stores in a Phoenix suburb because a customer reported feeling unsafe😍😍😍😍

Then THAT customer should have got up and left if they were that uncomfortable....pathetic world were living in....

Many comments here are too cruel. The customer and the staff need to learn, and blaming them is not the right treatment.

DumpStarbucks

If there's six officers standing around in uniform people might not want to come in because they think something's going down.

Starbucks I understand and I'm glad your employees actually thought about the customers..the police need to give respect..then you can get it.

It’s time we strongly consider a boycott of this ridiculous establishment. Try and get away with asking for another barista because they are gay, or a minority, or for any other reason you feel “unsafe” see how that goes. Starbucks is a prime example of liberalism run amok

Sickening

This isn’t the first time something like this has happened at a Starbucks. So apparently Starbucks truly doesn’t appreciate law enforcement, police officers should go to Dunkin Donuts for good coffee with good service. Starbucks coffee is not good and way overpriced.

This is just an example of 'Fuck the police, fuck the police !!!' chanting and when the crime is in proggress, they also the one who says 'Where the fuck is the police?'

Starbucks, it’s official, your employees suck. Why didn’t your employee tell the cry baby the officers had just as much right to be there as they did?

I will never patronize your establishment again!

Next time the need a cop they should call a liberal for help

How long did this apology take?🇺🇸

Who do you call to feel safe ?

Apologized to who? A statement doesn’t cut it. No more Starbucks for this family.

A really depressing thing about this story is that there are people living in this country who do not feel safe in the presence of police

I'm very confused by this story. How or why would a customer feel UNSAFE with 6 police officers INSIDE the Starbucks?

What's wrong with starbucks? Its customer service degrades steady each year to the bottomlessness.

Starbucks needs to review their hiring tactics. From refusing victims and firefighters water on 911, to refusing to serve people, for not only ridiculous reasons, political reasons that often become news events. Lord people, even McDonalds isnt that stupid.

I’m glad they did. I do wonder what was going through the employee’s mind: if a racist had said that they were ‘uncomfortable’ because they saw African Americans would they have asked them to leave? If the person felt uncomfortable the obvious solution is for THEM to leave.

If they were being overbearing, as I've sometimes seen officers be when in groups, it was probably appropriate for the employee to ask them to leave.

Absolutely ridiculous and pathetic. This is what liberalism does to our society. The employee should be fired. Our officers are the finest & put their life on the line daily for us. This is not how we show them our gratitude. The customer who felt unsafe can feel free to leave.

That employee is an idiot!

This customer is an a**hole.

The BIGGER question is: what have police done nationwide, as a whole, to make citizens FEAR them? Answer that question and you'll understand. 😡

And no one record this 🤔

Yo me hubiera sentido más seguro

Starbucks is stupid for asking them to leave. Don't apologize or expect police protection.

Why would anyone go to Starbucks? A wacko company that severely overcharges you.

You have nothing to apologise for

Maybe Starbucks should rethink their position and training then maybe so many apologies would not be necessary

Police profile and harass POC every day. Now with the addition of body cams we see cops harassing, arresting, beating and even shooting POC purely because of their skin color, and this is happening to suspect whom of which many were innocent. Cops murder all the time now.

Um, if you 'feel' uncomfortable - then F'ING LEAVE! Why do YOU 'feel' YOU are the special one that doesn't have to leave? omg people....please, get over yourself. WWWAAAAAAAAAAAA

Was the employee fired on the spot? If not the apology falls way short. They’ll need to shut down again and train their employees on sensitivity towards the police!

So the drug dealer or sex trafficker that wanted to get away unnoticed celebrated when he got his way! SbuxArizona Starbucks needs to have officers treated with respect-you can hold sensitivity classes, but this should be common sense!

Hey Starbucks Here’s a thought. Maybe train your employees to never ask any customer (POC, police, etc) to leave unless they’re barefoot or naked?

Overpriced, overplayed. I support our men and women in blue and ToaAz. Starbucks can’t get anything right.

T don't understand, why would Americans feel unsafe around PoliceOfficers ? ‘Horrifying’: Officer Seen On Video Slamming Suspect’s Head Into The Ground Placed On Administrative Duty

All they wanted was a coffee. What’s the matter with people?
