The SAT exam will move from paper and pencil to a digital format, administrators announced, saying the shift will boost its relevancy as more colleges make standardized tests optional for admission.

The pandemic accelerated the trend as testing sessions were canceled or inaccessible.

About 1.5 million members of the class of 2021 took the SAT at least once, down from 2.2 million in the previous year. A College Board survey found many students want to take the SAT to preserve the option of submitting the scores and qualifying for certain scholarships. “We want to present students with a wider range of information and resources about their post-secondary options,” she said.

“The digital version, I thought, was a lot less stressful than the paper and pencil version. It felt a lot more familiar,” said Natalia Cossio, 16, of Fairfax County, Virginia, who took part in a November pilot after first taking the PSAT on paper.

SAT was and is only a tool to make $. It’s ability to predict college success has always been mediocre at best. Make associates degrees and technical colleges exceedingly affordable (free would be better) that will predict 4 year success.

Can we get a piss break off the clock? 4 hours of hell

This will just make it easier to cheat

standardized tests only benefit the private corporations that publish them

More dumbing down

Pretty sure I feel asleep, while taking that test. 🙄 lol ah highschooldaze

Colleges making these test optional is a way to boost enrollment. While that is good in theory, they are just doing it to line their pockets since tuition is skyrocketing.

why not just get rid of it

Hackers dream come true.

I still have anxiety over taking the SAT.

Mickey Mouse exam

Elizabeth Warren was ahead of curve. She knew her race was important to admissions.

It’s about time. End systemic discrimination! Supreme Court takes cases on future of affirmative actionJUST IN: The U.S. Supreme Court says it will take up a pair of cases that could decide the future of affirmative action in college admissions. Today SCOTUS put private affirmative action on the block, just as it did protection of voting rights for blacks in the South. Shamelessly. The Supreme Court isn’t wasting time overturning established law. Ugh! And you ask yourself what good is Clarence Thompson to colored pple really - it would seem he agrees with every bad thing meted out to blacks.

Supreme Court will take up Harvard, UNC affirmative action challenge - POLITICOIn the lawsuit SFFA asked the high court to overturn its ruling in a landmark affirmative action case that has shaped college admissions policies for nearly two decades. Shouldn’t make any decisions based on race period. We should never be in a society that deems everyone is equal but some are more equal than others. Race based admissions does exactly this. In for Republican reaction to this, but never went to college themselves
