Governor Abbott emphasized Texas' constitutional right to defend and protect itself amidst what he perceives as President Biden's failure to address border security adequately.The public park is currently an epicenter in restricting migrant crossings for Texas’ Operation Lone Star. “If you see an area that is boxed off by a container that has raised a wire on the container or on the ground or on the fence, those are areas the illegal immigrants were once able to cross that are now unable to cross. If you look at this massive Park area, this is an area where you would regularly see 2,000, 3,000 maybe 4,000 people crossing the border illegally. Since Park has been taken over by the National Guard, the daily average is under 10 a day.
“There’s billions of dollars being spent on some thing that is not necessary because we’re standing right in front of the gate here that was built 15 years ago,” Fuentes said.“It’s going to say we want him to vacate the premises. We want our park back,” Fuentes said.
