Fact Check Team: How much spread of bird flu will affect grocery prices

Cases of the highly pathogenic avian influenza , known as bird flu, have surged across farms in the United States, causing widespread concern among authorities and consumers alike. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention ,they discovered bird flu infections among chickens at a Texas plant.

Egg prices, in particular, have experienced, peaking at $4.82 per dozen in January 2023. Although prices had begun to decline, they have since risen again, hovering just under $3.00 per dozen as of February. With the current outbreak, further price hikes are a likely possibility.that the impact on milk supply is expected to be minimal claiming the milk loss from infected cows is “too limited to have a major impact on supply.
