Students had protested after many saw results downgraded from the estimates of their teachers
There had been claims that many pupils had their results downgraded because they were from less affluent areas. But these estimates were then fed through an SQA moderation" system, which downgraded the marks handed out by teachers to bring them closer in line with previous years. She said a jump of 20 percentage points in the pass rate for pupils from the most deprived backgrounds could"run the risk of undermining the integrity of the whole system".

Everyone who 'knows' their predicted grades doesn't teachers aren't supposed to reveal them, most pupils with be going off of prelim grade or target grades some schools have easier prelims so they would have to take that into account the exams were already up this year so...
All happy pupils for short term. Now they think aha I can get into uni. Uni thinks damn everyone has 5As and I only have 30 places. Better raise the S6 entry requirement. You need another 5As. Pupils well that was for nothing.

Good to see the Scottish Education Secretary eventually saw common sense. When will he see sense that the sensible thing to do is resign for making such a major error of judgement. Education is about treating everyone fairly and equally and not on a 2 tier system.

Whatever the Scottish government did would be wrong, they are dammed if they do and dammed if they don’t. It’s a hard and fine line to get it right this has never happened before and hopefully will never happen again. But some credit they are trying to fix it

Unfortunately for my child the teachers submitted lower grades than the report card we received at the end of January so we have no right to appeal or explanation as to why.
This is not the right solution. There clearly needs to be moderation to ensure no over estimating of grades. This is utterly weak leadership. Another fairer moderation system needed to be found, this is completely unfair on the years before and after this.

iborganization , surely now IB results should be reissued - 80% teacher predictions, 20% IA grades (as marked by the IBO).
Crazy will show as best ever results, SNP will herald a great success next year for the elections and teachers will expect large pay rise for exceptional performance!
