By ignoring teachers and downgrading results, Ofqual has highlighted the deep inequalities between our schools, says Melissa Benn, a founder of the Local Schools Network

School leaders are in an unusually determined mode. The pandemic has sharpened their confidence”, but in many ways they highlight how England’s exams system already works. Rather than using a system known as “criterion-referencing”, where students are awarded a grade in any given subject according to whether they meet an agreed standard, students’ exam grades are instead decided every year in reference to each other – an arrangement called “norm-referencing”.

lonelyboy1977 Yes, its ran by liberal leftist freaks🏳️‍🌈🤮🖕

When I was in sixth form I was given predicted grades by a similar algorithm based system. The results were to barely pass, if not outright fail all my exams. I actually went to one of the best universities in the world. You need to assess the individual not their background.

Why's that bucket of shite not wearing a mask around kids?

Is it the education system itself or is it the establishment's interpretation of its results? Results are political, the system is not.

I'd say the overall lack of life skills and lack of practical, usable knowledge in pupils is more of a giveaway

Yeah and people live in castles while people starve to death, but coronavirus 'exposed' the inequality in our society. Right.

Trump was a new phenomenon. This oaf is a tired and inept attempt at hopping on the bandwagon. Send him to the Tower! Off with his hair!

It's been flawed for 50 years.

Are the exam results out then? If not, then what fiasco is she talking about?
