We will update this live blog with more information as we get it.We're live in West Bridgford this morning after a tornado-style freak weather event has damaged homes, closed roads and led trees to fall.Pictures show that a tree crashed onto Regent Street in Nottingham earlier this morning, near the Playhouse theatre. A police cordon was in place around the damaged tree.
Elsewhere, Sunninghill Drive in Clifton remains blocked in both directions from Rivergreen to Brinkhill Crescent due to a fallen tree. Bus service 54 is diverting.Paul Johnson lives on Dovedale Road. His chimney has fallen onto his garage. He said: “I heard it fall. Now I’ve come to look at this tree because it’s quite spectacular. The wind was horrendous. Absolutely horrendous. It was only for about ten minutes though but it did a lot of damage. The chimney has destroyed the garage.
