Angry campaigners have blasted the council’s Labour administration for blocking a move to discuss controversial plans to move Balloch Library to the village’s school campus.
An emergency motion was brought to the meeting by Lomond SNP councillor Jonathan McColl calling for the plans to be scrapped – and future changes to be brought to a public consultation. Explaining the move to the Lennox, Provost McAllister said: “I received notice of the emergency motion on the day of the full council meeting.
At the meeting, the Community Party’s Jim Bollan urged Provost McAllister to reconsider, saying: “Your position is a disgrace in terms of the emergency motion. It’s absolutely disgraceful. The veteran Leven member added: “The cowardly act by Labour’s Douglas McAllister, as chair of the council, to deny any discussion on Labour’s decision to shut Balloch Library and cram it into Balloch School Campus was shocking and undemocratic.
