The defence minister says Malaysia is now involved in five international missions under the UN.

Family members bid safe journey to Malaysian armed forces personnel going in a navy ship from Lumut in November last year on a UN mission to Lebanon.

“Although there has been no decision on the matter as of now from the UN, we are ready and the ministry is closely following developments in Palestine and cooperating with the foreign affairs ministry. He said Malaysia wanted to hear what Asean had to say about sending troops to Palestine under the UN banner.

In other developments, Mohamad said the army, navy and air force would begin the process of acquiring new assets.
