NSTnation Disabled woman can't deliver salted eggs to customers

Zauyah, who is physically challenged, is now staying at her sister’s house in Kuantan. She and her mother, Fatimah Yusof, 73, went to her sister’s place a few days before the MCO was implemented.

“I have had more than 20 customers calling and asking about their orders for salted eggs. I am worried the eggs will go bad if the MCO period is extended. “Before I left for Kuantan, I had fermented’ 600 eggs in 20 bottles and I am worried because the sales made from selling these salted eggs are my only source of income.

“If I am stranded here in Kuantan, I will a loss of RM540, which may not be much for others, but for me, a B40 income earner, it is a lot of money,” said Zauyah, who was born with small, deformed limbs.“The longer these eggs are fermented, the saltier they become. If they become too salty, I don’t feel good about selling them to my customers, even if they can still be eaten.”

Nonetheless, Zauyah said, there was an upside for her and her mother to be with her sister in Kuantan because they would have found it difficult to go out and buy essential items if they were at home.
