NSTnation Social enterprise Kembara Kitchen, known for distributing food to the needy, delivered two tonnes worth of food for the denizens of Zoo Negara.

Its co-founder, William Cheah, said the food items donated by Tesco Malaysia and halal Japanese restaurant Maruki Ramen would allow his team to provide frozen items, such as seafood and meat, to the zoo.

He was informed that Zoo Negara was appealing for funds as it could only sustain itself until the end of May as reported by the“We are able to collect frozen chicken fillet and liver from Maruki Ramen, which has generously donated its frozen stock. We were also able to get seafood stock and chicken parts from Tesco Ampang.“We are planning to have weekly deliveries on Tuesdays and Fridays. Hopefully, we would be able to continue this until the Movement Control Order ends.

Cheah yesterday posted a live video on his Facebook account showing the food deliveries to Zoo Negara using five cars. He said other companies, especially restaurants with unwanted frozen food stock in their possessions, could donate their food items to Kembara Kitchen, which would deliver to the zoo.

He said not only could restaurants avoid food wastage, but they also contribute towards feeding animals in Zoo Negara and other animal shelters around the Klang Valley.
