Gladys Berejiklian has again ruled out the prospect of pill testing at music festivals despite a leaked draft coroner's report recommending the move.

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian told ABC News that the Government will not support any move for pill testingThe comments follow leaked draft findings of a coronial inquest into music festival deaths which supports pill testing as a safety measure

However, Ms Berejiklian told ABC News she had not yet seen the coroner's report but the Government's position on pill testing was unchanged. "It actually gives people a false sense of security because how one person reacts to a drug is very different to another person reacting and unfortunately we have seen people lose their lives by taking what is a pure substance, a pure drug.

Eleven out of about 90 festivals that take place across the state will be deemed"high-risk" and subject to heightened criteria covering emergency medical workers, security and other conditions such as patrons' access to water.

good. now get rid of the toll roads...

Show me your medical degree Gladys GladysB

I am outraged that a person who is elected to represent public opinion, while gifted by the most up to date and relevant research, blatantly refuses to acknowledge evidence, research and specialists in the field. What is driving this response? Ignorance? Party politics? WTF?

Well said Glady’s, why should we fund testing on illegal substances. Make legal then quality assurance to meet consumption standards.

Damn. Hoped this'd lead to meth tests too, and possibly heroin testing so no more homeless junkies o/d. If you expect a government to introduce testing of illegal substances then you're a bit dumb. You're better off advocating for the pills to be legal and regulated to start with

Pill testing isn't expensive or good or ignored, it's just stupid. But why have the ABC made this top of their agenda?

She's quite correct. Silliest idea since the invention of the ABC.

The Just Say No To Drugs does NOT WORK and then you say they are ILLICIT DRUGS and NO PILLS are good Except LEGAL OXYCONTIN the biggest Drug Pushers are Dr’s

Drug testing saves lives and every study recommends it. Denying it appeals to a voter base who it is entirely irrelevant to. This is an absolute disgrace.

The reason Politicians are Elected is to Do The Peoples Work and and Keep Us Safe if the Best Recommendations are Pill Testing Saves Lives DO IT

Purity!!!! what crap, testung for the dodgy crap some people will add to make money taking advantage of innocence, then they can lead people to the real criminals those that don't care if people die, and no i don't take pills

But she wants more massive commercial events in public parks and gardens to satisfy her developer mates on local councils planning to rezone them for housing. The Turks understood there's only one way to deal with Armenians.

JJJ listener and agree with the NSW premier. Where has personal responsibility gone in our society. Don't take it = don't die. All pill testing does is let x know what x got for the $.

She probably doesn’t believe in climate change either.

Gladys the Bin Chicken fails again ....

Psychopath

Such a head in the sand approach! Evidence shows that young people take their everyday activities into a festival event- and part of this behaviour is recreational drug use

Evidence around the world shows that pill testing DOES create an environment for positive conversations in reducing harm in the festival environment

So... no testing of alcohol standards then?

Well done her... why should tax payer dollars be spent trying to protect druggies and people who refuse to do the right thing? Money could be better spent elsewhere...

Wait until it is proven that a young person has overdosed before getting to the event and confronting your Police Wall. That’s what they do you know. Take everything before they get there. You will be held accountable.!

Why should tax payers have to foot the bill for the stupid decisions of drug takers?

A silly stance GladysB! Typical of the Libs in this country, plenty of ideology, loads of politics and wedge, and bugger all evidence-based policy. I bet testing would be allowed in the Star Casino Money Cleaning Facility if they asked

'We will not' NSW druggies double down on not taking drugs despite recommendation (and the law)

That's because Gladys thinks the year is 1842

'Premier says 'No, thank you' to science' - fixed it for you. Evidence based policy doesn't stand a chance in this country

Excellent news.

Our current education program worlds. Fewer and fewer young people actually use drugs then every before. The current program works. Testing pills sends the opposite message to the productive message that our teachers tell our kids each day at school. Don’t contradict them.

Does the government follow any recommendations?

Gladys just doesn’t get it. People will die. Families will sue the government when they do

That’s a very foolish stance.

I've been recommended a vegan diet so many times I can't count. At no point did I seriously consider these recommendations as a 'Healthy Option'. The Premier is rightly doing the same here and she should be commended for standing up to these morons.

Good on Gladys. NoPillTesting
