Young Saul Lockheed needs elective surgery to help him sleep. Unfortunately for him, being in Tasmania means he will likely wait longer than people anywhere else in Australia.

figures lay bare the stark contrast between elective surgery waiting times in Tasmania and those in the rest of the country. The data reveals almost one in five Tasmanian patients, or 19.3 per cent, waited more than a year for their surgery in 2020-21 — close to triple the national figure of 7.6 per cent.

Less than two-thirds of the most urgent category of patients were seen within clinically recommended time frames in 2020-21.

I've been waiting for over 12 months to have a double hernia fixed. 4 months ago I was told I was on the 90day list ( operation within 90 days) but then we opened the borders. I hope young Saul gets his before me. I can put up with mine longer.

And somehow they’ll construe this as being the fault of Dan Andrews.
