Pandemic leave extended, unions lose bid to end pandemic changes for admin workers | nickbonyhady

for workers in 16 industries on Tuesday for varying lengths of time from a month to a year, with extensions for another 83 industries due in coming days. The pandemic leave, which lets workers like casuals take time off to self isolate even if they do not have sick leave, was set to expire on Tuesday but will now keep going for varying lengths depending on the industry.

Research from the Parliamentary Library shows permanent shop workers who do full Sunday shifts face an annual pay cut of $4300 as a result of the Fair Work Commission's 2017 decision to reduce Sunday penalty rates from double time to time and a half over three years. The final 15 percentage point cut begins on Wednesday.

Attorney-General Christian Porter said the decision had been made independently of the government. "Given Mr Burke's position is to reverse an independent decision of the [commission], is he also suggesting that increases to penalty rates granted by the [commission] should be reversed?" Mr Porter said. The commission has increased some other penalty rates for retail and aged care workers in recent years.

nickbonyhady What is all this nonsense of pandemic leave, there is no pandemic in Australia, there have been a few minor clusters and almost everyone has recovered. Why don't the media admit their hysterical reporting was wrong and stop peddling fear

Victorian Labor now ‘a health menace’ to every Australian: Bolt | Sky News AustraliaDue to its complete bungling of the coronavirus, the Victorian Labor government is “a health menace now to every Australian” according to Sky News host Andrew Bolt. \n\nMr Bolt said Victorian Labor is “the most incompetent government in the country”. \n\nHe said despite the government being so tough on some bans, such as on golf, camping and fishing, it was weak on “keeping sick people in quarantine and making them stay there”. \n\nVictoria has had 64 new infections of COVID-19 on Tuesday, which follows the 75 new cases on Monday. \n\nOn Tuesday it was revealed Victorians living in one of the state’s ten coronavirus hotspots will be banned from leaving their homes if they don’t qualify for one of four exemptions.\n\nPremier Daniel Andrews said the radical stage three restrictions will be enforced from 11.59pm Wednesday night in a desperate bid to take back control of the state's surging coronavirus outbreak.\n\n“This government had its chance and it blew it and now the rest of us will pay,” Mr Bolt said. \n\nImage: Getty So is still thinking that petty divisive opinion is newsworthy

Labor calls on PM to be 'compassionate' with JobSeeker | Sky News AustraliaLabor is calling on the Morrison government to extend its JobSeeker subsidy scheme and permanently increase the allowance as many Australians remain unemployed. \n\nShadow Finance Minister Katy Gallagher said the JobSeeker and JobKeeper schemes were due to end in about three months and “people are genuinely worried”.\n\nShe told Sky News the payment “has to be increased'. \n\n'The government should be compassionate and make sure what they land on is enough for people to not only support their day-to-day living, but also support them in a dignified life,' she said. \n\n“We cannot govern from opposition but we want the government to take this seriously and I think any idea of a snapback everyone acknowledges is ridiculous and the sooner the government provides some certainty about that, the better it will be for people. \n\n“We’re not being prescriptive, we’re not demanding a certain figure from the government at this stage – but we are giving them a framework.' \n\nImage: News Corp Australia Following a pandemic and with the number of jobs being lost, compassion with JobSeeker & maintaining the allowance amount seems reasonable. Scaling the allowance & reducing the amount by 50% for each year unemployed also seems fair and reasonable. Labor are idiots. The enhanced support is already meaning people are just not applying for jobs as it's not worth their effort to do so... Typical Labor, borrow more and give away for votes.... money doesn’t grow on trees...
