Defence Minister Peter Dutton says Australia will never have the military ties with China it shares with traditional allies such as the United States as a result of its position and history | Gallo_Ways

Defence Minister Peter Dutton says Australia will never have the military ties with China it shares with traditional allies such as the United States as a result of its position and history.

Defence Minister Peter Dutton said the question of how Australia should navigate its relationship with China was not complicated.Diplomatic relations between Australia and China have deteriorated to their worst level in decades, with Beijing last year imposing more than $20 billion of tariffs after Canberra pushed for an independent global inquiry into the origins of COVID-19.

“We have a respectful relationship with China from our own perspective. We are a peaceful nation, we seek to support our neighbours particularly in a time of need, and we have a need for that in response,” he said.“It’s not more complicated than that in my mind. We aren’t going to have the military ties with China that we do historical partners like the United States. That is no doubt an issue for China, but that is the reality of our position and our history.

Gallo_Ways What about Darwin port?

Gallo_Ways Why talking about China ago, so sick of it. Just leave it alone. Can’t we?

Gallo_Ways Vassal living in US cold war mentality. These are your neighbours.... not the belligerent warmongering regime of America

Gallo_Ways God Dutton said . kick them out

Gallo_Ways Potato is getting us in a stew with his mash up on history.

Gallo_Ways No, but we may just sell them a port or two. Don't know why they are looking at is. They could buy all of PNG with beads & trinkets if they wshed😏

Gallo_Ways LetUsBackToAus

Gallo_Ways Andrew Robb as a trade minister resigned from your party to take up a position working for a Chinese government controlled company …just saying

Gallo_Ways When does he retire 🤔

Gallo_Ways When is he going to learn that he says too much

Gallo_Ways Its not up to Dutton to declare the future, especially when he’s a has-been.

Gallo_Ways Spud misses a golden opportunity to shut up.

Gallo_Ways Sadly any random commentator seems more fit for the job than Mr Dutton. I’m not being ironic...

Gallo_Ways I thought he was Chinese or possibly Mongolian... Dead set... I think he needs to ask his mum a few hard questions.

Gallo_Ways Australia needs NO military ties but certainly not with a psychopathic entity like the USA. There is no reason Australia cannot declare neutrality NOW and join 22 other very clever nations in disbanding its extremely expensive military.

Gallo_Ways The closer we get to an election, the more the Liberal party wants to scare the living bejesus out of us, it seems.

Gallo_Ways Never have Not news Whipping up fear & hysteria about China is a political play by Dutton & Morrison ready for the election

Gallo_Ways Dutton has outed himself as diplomatically inept and incompetent. Imagine a Minister of the Crown saying we will “never” have such ties. So much for keeping options open for a different future. But his position will, I’m sure, win votes for him.

Gallo_Ways Born diplomat this bloke 🙄

Gallo_Ways 'Never'? While he's prime minister I assume he means

Gallo_Ways

Gallo_Ways Hmmmm why would you be sharing military ties….it works this way - you have side a & side b, when you fight you say you fight with the enemy!!! Haaaa funny….it is!!!

Gallo_Ways The only history that AUSTRALIA shares with the USA is being an invader settler society built on STOLEN LAND + GENOCIDE + some SLAVERY... time to wake up that the old ways are OVER, especially for a white colony (aka quarry) in ASIA... 😒 ...the USA will just get on with business

Gallo_Ways He wants continued aggressive US dominance in Asia Pacific. The only country leading fruitless but death poverty and misery from the Korean war , ME wars , Vietnam wars right thru the Afganistan war is we know who.

Gallo_Ways Fair enough

Gallo_Ways I would have thought that was a blatantly obvious fact that everybody already knew but okay

Gallo_Ways Time to move on and become more neutral in todays world. Blind loyalty to the US who just drags us into illegal wars that only serve the US will cost us our economy soon. Your words are filled with ambition to become the PM. Vote them out and cut loose these kind of traditions.

Gallo_Ways Can you just ask him next time... When is the Federal Election? Nothing else, just that. -Thanks.

Gallo_Ways Surprised someone with a Bachelor of Business does not understand global economics.

Gallo_Ways China disdains to have a such a military tie with a puppet country.

Gallo_Ways I wonder if Dutton realises the Chinese were also our allies against Japan in WW2? And suffered far more under Japanese occupation.

Gallo_Ways Potato head!

Japan shows it’s a ‘strong ally’ of Australia by supporting pushback against China | Sky News AustraliaSky News Business Editor Ross Greenwood says Japan is showing it is a “strong ally” of Australia by supporting pushback against China, particularly for it’s bans on Australian goods. \n\nPrime Minister Scott Morrison has always said China’s bans on Australian goods should be adjudicated within the World Trade Organisation and will have the chance to make his case at the G7 summit, according to Mr Greenwood. \n\n“He’s certainly assisted and aided in this by not only the United States … but also by Japan, again giving assistance to Australia and saying … there’s got to be pushback against China, against its taking over of islands and parts of the South China Sea,” he said. \n\n“But also, when it comes to dealing with trade with Australia. \n\n“Japan, by doing this, clearly again is showing itself to be a strong ally of Australia right now and this is key if Australia is to get itself back on track with China … in terms of trade”. \n Ross_Greenwood More MurdochGutterMedia crap! 💩 Ross_Greenwood Did Biden know he was in the video conference? China criticism proves Australia and Japan are a 'united front' | Sky News AustraliaWest Australian Political Journalist Sarah Ison says Australia and Japan’s joint statement in opposition to China’s coercive behaviour presents a “united front” ahead of the G7 summit. \n\nThe joint statement - which comes after two hours of virtual meetings between Australia’s Foreign Affairs Minister Marise Payne, Defence Minister Peter Dutton and their Japanese counterparts - labelled China’s economic behaviour as undermining “the rules-based international system”.\n\nMs Ison says the declaration was “a really pointed statement” against Beijing.\n\n“It was very much the two countries coming together and presenting something of a united front in this statement and it no doubt has already gained criticism from China,” she told Sky News.\n\n“We’ve had a lot of comments and the confirmation that the geo-strategic competition that we’re facing right now will be discussed and that’s code for China’s rise and the competition particularly with the United States.\n\n“Last year Australia had a really tough year with China … and the world was really watching on with apprehension and a lot of worry about what is being deemed as economic coercion, so I think those discussions about where to from here will be had and will be had on the side-lines of the G7.”\n 😂😂😂Your leaders are chosen by American.
