Bridget McKenzie was warned by Sports Australia there were risks if she approved cash splashes independently of its advice. 9News

"It was ... ultimately the minister's prerogative to make decisions as the minister saw fit," Mr Wylie said.

The organisation twice raised concerns with the minister's office over email - in December 2018 and March 2019 - about the risks involved in making decisions independently of its advice. "This was not something that was new, that sent alarm bells. We actually had had precedent before on this particular process," he said.

The brief had been dated April 4, despite Senator McKenzie's office sending a list of grants she intended to approve to Mr Morrison's office on April 10. "Those authorisations were provided on the 4th of April, according to the approval of the brief by Senator McKenzie, on that date, as advised by Sport Australia."

PM faces fresh scrutiny over role in sports rorts scandal | Sky News AustraliaA parliamentary inquiry into the persisting sports rorts saga will resume this morning, as the Prime Minister faces fresh scrutiny over the role his office played in approving grants.\n\nDocuments released to the inquiry showed 136 emails were sent between the offices of Scott Morrison and then-Sports Minister Bridget McKenzie. \n\nThe documents were reportedly colour-coded showing the distribution of grants by electorate and political party. \n\nThe auditor-general found the scheme was biased in targeting seats the party wanted to win. \n\nLabor leader Anthony Albanese ramped up his attack on Wednesday, accusing the prime minister of lying about his level of involvement in the scheme. \n\n“The prime minister claimed his only involvement was to pass along information so why has the audit office told the Senate today that there were 136 emails going back and forth between the prime minister’s office and Bridget Mckenzie’s office?” he said. \n\nMeanwhile, a Victorian roller derby club is demanding funding retrospectively, given they scored 98 out of 100 in the Sport Australia sport eligibility criteria. \n\nImage: Getty It is clear to everyone what happened here. Yet the PM will not acknowledge any problem at all and continues his attempt to manipulate the facts. Very sad for Australia as a Nation really! How do we Rid the ingrained Corruption from our Government. this must be referred to the AFP and AEC for criminal investigation and impact to the May 2019 election outcome. auspoI newscomauHQ centre_alliance JacquiLambie OneNationAus

Labor continues to grill govt on sports grants | Sky News AustraliaLabor used its time at the dispatch box to attack the government over revelations there were 136 emails between the Prime Minister’s Office and former sport minister Bridget McKenzie’s. \n\nWhile emails from the PMO indicated “these are the [sport clubs] we think should be included…” the Audit-Office also found those clubs referred by the office were no more successful than those sent by a local MP. \n\nWhen asked by Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese, Prime Minister Scott Morrison said his office was not the decision-maker on the grants. \n\nWhat prime ministers have always done is support their judgement and colleagues because I know they know what is best for their communities,” he said. \n\n“The Leader of the Opposition may think, may think, you’re not allowed to consult with other members.”\n Corruption... go on.... evidence of abnormal approvals?
