'I appreciate you have a busy schedule but we would appreciate an answer to our queries', Ms Buttrose wrote in a strongly-worded letter to the Communications Minister Paul Fletcher.

Ms Buttrose said several media reports, which ABC management believes were informed by Mr Fletcher, had suggested the ABC "had neglected to 'collaborate more closely with SBS'".

A Peter Tonagh-led review of the public broadcasters was handed to the Morrison government in March last year, but its details were kept confidential as the ABC developed plans to cut costs.

The ABC is a public funded organisation.. at this point in time it only represents a small part of the paying public .. to recieve adequate funding it will need to be non-partisan.

It’s not a bottomless pit Ita - you still have to compete and demonstrate that you can produce a non-biased quality product which unfortunately hasn’t been happening for many years. Start at the top and work your way down - purge the lefty influence that has infiltrated the ABC.

Have a look at another network Ita, you will discover a world economic crisis in the news.....no money.....this equals staff cuts to your ABC Labour media outlet, cuts to Qantas and another Australian 170,000 workers...just as important..everyone is suffering...show leadership !

What Ita has to appreciate is that the commercial world, that she actually comes from, has to tighten the purse strings all the time. The ABC is not a commercial entity, it’s ours. What the people say is MANAGE YOUR BUDGET! We’re not paying for biased crap.

auspol Mr Fletcher needs to be open and honest with Ms Buttrose. The Liberal Party is repulsed by the ongoing presence of the ABC - that it regards as a socialist propaganda machine; and wants it abolished. Mr Fletcher can’t be any clearer?

Game over, ABC. I called it.

paul felcher must be tho thcared of granny ita!

Its a bit like the good cop, bad cop scenario with the ABC.........Buttrose and Anderson, but both on the same team. Well overdue cutbacks considering their strong alliance with the Labor Party. More to come too I reckon.

If it doesn't say 'Answer the fucking question, asshole!' then it doesn't really qualify as strongly worded.

Yep, that’ll work. How about picking up the phone or having a meeting. Discuss the issues with verbal words.

Time for you to go and take that organization with you ..just a waste of tax money ..Sell it and Ita retirement age so go ...

The LNP can’t hold an open conversation about anything because it’s policy platform is built on out of date economics and social values.

Oooh, yeah, a strongly worded letter, that ought to do it.

If Buttarse believes in the licence fee, why can't she pay mine? Why should anyone have to pay for the ABC's culturally Marxist propaganda and agenda?

This is the mourning news: ABC's stupid decision to cut its vital organsOpinion: The latest round of cuts to ABC staff are a needless disaster, inflicted by a Coalition government seemingly unable to recognise the essential role of our public broadcaster | mattpeacock mattpeacock The essential role of a public broadcaster is to be completely & fundamentally unbiased in the way that they report, which in my opinion, they do not. mattpeacock No, they recognise it. As they say, facts have a left-leaning bias. The Coalition wants its voters as ill-informed as possible. mattpeacock I just feel like a propaganda outlet that incites race riots against Australians isn't essential.

ABC job cuts should be a lesson in balancing a budget | Sky News AustraliaHundreds of jobs will be axed from the ABC as its executive team – clearly stricken with arithmophobia – struggles to balance its measly $1.1 billion budget.\n\nABC Life has become the first casualty.\n\nYou might remember the lifestyle website cost taxpayers $3 million a year to run, and in return, produces articles about what might happen in a zombie apocalypse or how to cook tofu.\n\nThe website will be rebranded ABC Local and those journalists will be redeployed to doing real journalism instead of the aforementioned strange lifestyle pieces.\n\nStill, ABC Life editor Bhakthi Puvanenthiran appears defiant in the face of imminent change.\n\n“We are losing up to half the ABC Life team as we rebrand as ABC Local,” she wrote today.\n\n“It's devastating news and the details are unclear right now, but what I know for sure is I'm really proud of what we've built, telling diverse stories the ABC has never told before.”\n\nAnd despite the ABC putting out statements that the content would dramatically shift, she hopes to do the same sort of work with the new brand.\n\n“I hope we can keep doing that under a new banner but right now I am thinking of this incredible team of winners,” she said.\n\nWhile job losses in journalism are always sad and should never be celebrated the announcement by ABC Managing Editor David Anderson’s five-year plan is a step in the right direction.\n\nThe national broadcaster only spends 20 per cent of its budget on news right now.\n\nThat figure is disturbingly low when you consider what the core function of the ABC is supposed to be.\n\nThankfully the reforms will put an end to ABC Comedy and redirect resources back to news gathering and breaking.\n\nIronically, ABC Comedy, which has come under fire in the past for producing skits mocking religion, will be tasked with reporting on religious affairs and science.\n\nThe changes have certainly ruffled the feathers of Ultimo’s elite – who have been told may have to vacate their prime real estate.\n\n Houghtontweets Take some of the money from SBS budget, do we really need to see repeats of 'If you are the One' a Chinese dating show Houghtontweets Do they really get $1.1 billion? Worst of all from the pockets of people they hate so much and seek to destroy. That's incredible. Houghtontweets Hallelujah. The hive of Marxist idiocy gets a haircut
