A performance at the Port Moresby headquarters of oil giant Exxon Mobil sparks controversy in Papua New Guinea, with locals claiming the show disrespected their culture.

But members of the local Tolai community told the ABC that they felt the performance"didn't display appropriate respect for our culture".

She said her concern centres on the fact that the performance does not recognise the sacred nature of the dance and costume. "[The performer] probably doesn't understand what I'm talking about — I would like to sit down with him, I would like to explain to him what is our culture."

ABC keep you “racism” narratives out of PNG please.

Did you run out of stories to report on? This is just poor reporting!!

Time to seriously investigate this inborn entrenched belief that white is superior. where did it come from how has it been allowed to continue and where is it taking us? Whites today have done nothing to contribute to this fallacy.

ABC painim wok!

Recap. Man dances at function. Innercity elites complain that fun was allowed.

NOT OFFENSIVE! The facepaint is part of my traditional attire. Def NOT blackface! Many non-tolais (expats included) dress in tolai traditional attire every year. Why is it suddenly so offensive? ABC this wasn't newsworthy. Do a story on the West Papuans fight for freedom!

Yeah good to see some racist from an oil company doing their usual good work.

Robert downey jr. Already did that with absolutely zero problems.

The woke supremacists at ABC at it again.. PG culture doesn’t matter, only ABC culture does.. apparently

Again ABC news, nothing wrong with this. The man isn’t in ‘blackface’ You’re supposed to be covered in traditional brown paint derived from a tree. We’ve been dancing with foreign nationals since primary school and since their in PNG they are to dress up like the rest of us.

Like Exxon give a fuck.

But drag queens are not offensive to women... 🙄

What do you mean 'labelled' if a white man civering himself in brown paint and then dancing around for others amusement isnt black face i dont know what is :/

Meanwhile, TheirABC still hasn't apologised for this one …

Why do some parents dread their child's eighth birthday?OPINION For Jennifer*, a 38-year-old single mother with a 13-year-old girl, her daughter’s eighth birthday was the occasion of high anxiety, not celebration. Employer to parent. 'Ah so your kid is now 8? Well that means we can drop your pay by $88 PW.' Also how many people went from not being unemployed to being made unemployed by the GOV. Didn't they just increase the percentage of unemployed people when they introduced this? Also why is a person on Youth allowance aloud to earn nearly 3 times more a fortnight before their allowance gets cut than a person who by definition is unemployed and is obligated to find work? This should be a nonissue. There is enough money to help but government is more interested in helping America to kill more coloured people. Oops. So too bad.
