Israel lowers its official estimated death toll of the October 7 Hamas attacks, stating it to be around 1200 people instead of the initially cited 1400. The numbers are subject to change as the remains of those killed are identified.

Israel revised its official estimated death toll of the October 7 Hamas attacks, lowering the number to about 1200 people, down from the more than 1400 initially cited, a spokesperson for the country’s Foreign Ministry said last Friday. The spokesperson, Lior Haiat, said the original figure was an “initial estimate” that had now been updated.
