An Australian citizen and permanent resident have fled Gaza overnight, with the help of the Australian government. Follow live.

The Australian government has helped two more people flee Gaza into Egypt, a day after more than 20 Australians left the besieged Palestinian enclave.

"We continue to engage closely with partners in the region to ensure the remaining Australians in Gaza who wish to leave are able to do so as soon as possible," they said. "As we continue working to stop this war we cannot ignore the wider context and the necessity to turn down the regional temperature that is approaching a boiling point,""The risk of regional spillover and further escalation is real, as well as the risk that extremist groups will take advantage of the situation to advance ideologies that will keep us locked in cycles of violence.
