‘Inundated’: Warning over popular hot spot

The tourist hotspot has lagged behind other NSW regions with Covid-19 vaccination rates — partly due to an anti-vaccination sentiment among some locals.

Byron Bay is in the grip of a lockdown right now after a reality television worker allegedly breached public health orders by visiting businesses in Byron Bay and Kingscliff over the weekend while infectious.I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out of HereBut she was not allowed to visit businesses under the exemption, police said. Police also allege she didn’t use QR codes to check in at the venues.But it is what happens after lockdown that has locals and local politicians concerned.

“We did call for tighter restrictions on the reasons people can come here,” he said. “I’ve got businesses contacting me saying, ‘What the f*** is going on?’.”Protesters clashed with police in Byron Bay.“We’re sitting ducks.”“We’re going to be inundated with people,” she said. “God knows what it’ll be like come summertime.”

Coercion doesnt violate your rights, you still have the right to not take the vax. Society has its rights too. We have to right to exclude the disease magnifiers from our society. We are all doing our bit to move past this virus, you don’t get to be a parasite on our sacrifice

Rights always come with responsibility. The right to healthcare, to be respected, to share public space all have the responsibility to do the right thing regarding covid just get vaxed. Why would you not get vaxed if it helps our community bear covid? Not to is just dumb
