Regional MPs are urging Gladys Berejiklian and John Barilaro to rethink plans to allow Sydney residents travel to the country.

Under the NSW government’s reopening plan, restrictions on regional travel will be lifted after the state meets its goal of fully inoculating 70 per cent of residents aged over 16, with a tentative date of October 11 looming.

NSW Deputy Premier John Barilaro has designed the state’s “road map” to living with Covid. Picture: NCA NewsWire/Nikki Short “We are however really concerned that without policy changes, our region will suddenly become deeply vulnerable to a major influx of Sydneysiders, while we are still short of the 70 per cent safety target.”

The Tweed, Kempsey and Byron local government areas are back in lockdown this week after a production crew member who travelled to Byron Bay to work on a reality TV show tested positive to Covid-19 during routine screening. In Wagga Wagga, in the state’s southwest, independent MP Joe McGirr has written his own letter to the deputy premier asking for a regional “road map” to living with Covid.

Just us out you muppets. We’ve done what you wanted

Rethink everything....if they dont we are in trouble with the current flawed plan. Looking forward to see it unfold ....then hearing the excuses and blame game.

Agree with him and that crew member was an arrogant one yet again from Sydney. Most cases have been these types thinking 💭 it’s ok to do as they please.

Never been a better time than now for a country independent to run for office. The LNP only care about Sydney

The nation is already divided with hard borders between states. Do we also want hard borders within states?

Whinge whine. Who cares

It’s like a game of marbles😎

Yeh, thats not a lockdown!

Yes, it is going to be a massacre in NSW. For what? An ego or two?

Bugger off, stick to the plan. We can’t live under the doona for ever

I am so sick of the cowardly people Australian’s have become. Everyone wants to live in their own little hole so they never get hurt. This virus is not as bad as you imagine. Show a bit of heart. We can face this thing and get our freedoms back.
