With New South Wales expected to reopen retail even earlier than previously expected due to a high vaccination rates, business owners are telling their staff it could “get ugly” if they have to deny entry to angry and abusive unvaccinated customers.

The worry is if only the vaccinated are given freedoms as how any rules liming the unvaxxed would be enforced.

Today, Solomon Lew, the man behind brands including Smiggle, Just Jeans and Peter Alexander called for a ban on the unvaccinated in the nation’s shopping centres.Ms Pham said she can't find any clear information on how businesses are expected to enforce the rules and it feels like the community is divided on the issue.

“I told them my main priority and concern is their mental health and that they feel comfortable when they return. I’ve been doing weekly meetings with them as of last Monday and we are role playing how to service clients and the conversations we have and the words we should use,” she revealed. “I feel like I lost trust in what the government has been saying to us … there is no clear direction,” she said.

“I can only imagine that for salons inside places like Westfield, that highly rely on foot traffic, it’s going to be crazy for them,” she added. “Already we’ve got restraints because you’ve got the four square metre rule,” she said of the loosening of restrictions, which the NSW Government insists will be gradual and not a free for all.

“If I do let anti-vaxxers dine in with us, I risk losing staff who don’t want to work in that environment. It’s a catch 22 situation,” she said. She even created a whole role play scenario to avoid any unnecessary ugliness at the door.Amy Campbell, owner of beauty salon The Bridal Bar in Caringbah in Sydney’s south, is keen to start trading again but wants more direction from the government.

But Digital Minister Victor Dominello said integrating the vaccination certificates into the Service NSW app was unlikely to be ready on time for reopening.“The reality is right now there are other options for showing your vaccination status. This is just to make it easier.”Greg*, a casual retail worker at a brand outlet in a David Jones department store, said he was “horrified” that Sydney would be opening up before the technology was ready to properly show vaccine passports.

Emily*, a Sydney worker at clothing brand Cotton On, told news.com.au: “It is concerning that we are going to have to deal with people who don’t want to be vaxxed and deal with the abuse that’s going to come with having to check if everyone is vaxxed.

Would you call an underage person being refused entry to a licensed venue discrimination? No you wouldn’t! Same goes for unvaccinated people being refused entry into retail stores.

It’s not about being angry. Its about getting what you deserve, if attacking peoples human rights back fires on you.

Learn your rights. Privacy Act 2015 protects you from sharing vaccine status with anyone other than people who you want to.

So if your not vaccinated you are abusive ? Talk about spinning lies and misinformation

Cant wait for the backlash and failures of Gladys incompetent decisions to unfold between now and Xmas as opening commences against best health advise .....good time to be a lawyer.

Stop listening to the ABC and the leftist fear mongering media elite's then

It really is about freedom of choice. The choice to get vaccinated or not. The choice to let people into your business if they’re vaccinated or not. Surely this is also freedom of choice.

Get “ugly” they think. 🤣 that’s an understatement, it’s going to be chaos, violent and scary to be blunt!

It’s a duty of care requirement to not place staff in a situation of conflict. Any competent change management plan would trigger a risk assessment. That assessment would then trigger training in conflict resolution and additional security. Put it back on Gov.

excuse my igorance but if a person says they are exempt on.medical.grounds from wearing a mask and not produce a certifice citing privacy whats to stop a person from decling to say there vaccination status is on the same basis?

The types of people that won’t get vaccinated are the ugly ones

There are alot of businesses open at the moment that don't even bother with the QR codes check-in so I'd bet that alot of businesses won't even bother to check people's vax status.

I hope businesses who reject the unvaccinated get heat. Pro choice always. They should stand with the people.

Have fun going against discrimination laws so many people and company's be getting sued

The 1 question no can seem to answer me is. If people get fully Vaccinated. Where is the concern about the unvaccinated? If you are fully vaxxed what are you worried about ? What harm can the unvaxxed do to the vaxxed as they have protection?

It's not just going to get ugly in terms of frustrated unvaxxed customers, it's going to become the land of the infected. I'm going into hiding, tell me when its over ok!

I find it funny Gladys wants to open, but too scared to open parliament. Wtf..

They will be the one losing $$$ and will need us

I have a business in few hot spots if govt is not implementing or enforcing the mandatory vaccination entry policy pffft not going to become punching bag and let anyone or everyone come down business!! Throw a hail marry

I agree. I think it will get ugly with some customers. It's unknown territory with varying opinions as to rights or fairness. My question; assuming the business owner and e/ee's are vaccinated, what is to fear anyway?

Well you can’t have it both ways. Vaccination is only answer and our only pathway back to normalcy and reaching target and opening up and keeping everyone safe. Vaccinate people should get more freedom than unvaccinated people, they chose path. jab = freedom!! 😊

Meanwhile vaxxed HCW’s in hospital with Covid. Vaccines are not enough

New gas plan for Central Queensland could create 5,500 jobsBut environmental activists warn the plan to open two new gas basins could impact water supplies for farmers. 'Could impact water supplies' Ah, so the jobs made will be in our booming post-apocalypse tourism industry? When a gas reservoir is disturbed by drilling, hydraulic fracturing, ...gas may potentially migrate from the reservoir to other parts of the sub-surface, such as aquifers above the gas deposit (which may be used for water supply), Could create 5,500 jobs but more like just a few hounded. The gas industry has already massively expanded, they sent it overseas, didn’t get the price they wanted so jacked up local prices to make up for the shortfall. Now getting a tax payer handout. Fraudsters.

Is the National Gallery of Australia’s new sculpture worth the $14m price tag?Opinion: It’s unfair to judge a project without seeing it in the flesh, but from the artist’s impressions, it resembles a large sliced bagel, with poppy seeds Paying $14m for a sculpture whilst half of the State is in financial crisis 🤷‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️😬. Read the room guys . More splashing by the ACT government on pure garbage. It's taxpayers money, after all. Clutches pearls over $14M artwork… meanwhile, we just threw $2.4B in the trash over cancelled submarines. At least the art is actually going to be built and everyone can see it
