Indigenous groups could be given unprecedented autonomy and funding as the government lays out a plan to Close the Gap.

The draft reports laid out a number of objectives including lowering Indigenous incarceration rates, facilitating university education for up to 70 per cent of young people and for groups to be

given greater land control. Prime Minister Scott Morrison will bring the proposal to National Cabinet to determine how states may best seek to achieve the desired outcomes. Image: News Corp Australia

'Facilitating university education for up to 70 per cent of young people' Sooo free/discounted uni education for aboriginals? Black only job applications(already exists). White privilege? Where?

These sub-human beings are a burden on our white society from the time they are born till the time they die. Time to cut them off and treat them like anyone else.

Will not work

finally

Keep an eye out for the usual suspects Look for new voices, not the old hacks

You can't be given autonomy and then put your hand out for tax payers money. Isn't 8b a year enough ?

Isn’t $30Billion per year enough already?

Remember last time when ATSIC was squandering over $1Bil per annum.

The only gap is the one that is between wanting to help one self and the lazy disrespectful free money hungry grubs that demand handout!!!! Stick that in your pipe and smoke it.!!!!!

Yep, throw some more money at them, they really need more - but don’t ask why, that’s a racist position.

Oh dear, how awful - 'unprecedented autonomy'

Except they won’t. Morrison will say this and then do NOTHING

🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️

WHY? Divide us by making minority groups 'special'? WB: Australia MY COUNTRY & Proud of it I am, you are, we are all Australians, One Flag, one Nation, One Anthem, One set of rules for all of us.

More scams for money, ridiculous !

Money is not the only answer to Indigenous people's problems. It is a complex issue. Also, monies given to First Nation's people have not trickled down to grassroots people and money has been wasted. Indigenous people want to own freehold land and make a living from that land.

Through more money at it, maybe some of it will stick this time. Ps every job application that I filled out in the last 10 years required me to state if I'm aborigeonal. So after 10+ years of benefiting from discrimination they want more cash and benefits? Cut it already

Change the flag with England on it. Embrace a new idea ..

No doubt Langton and Wyatt had their say in this new draft to make sure their commie friend don't miss out on their cut. I don't see why aboriginal mobs can't elect their preferred leaders. The ones they trust instead of the stand over aboriginal men who just take, then dictate.

ScottMorrisonMP pls explain! I thought you were giving a voice to the unheard Aboriginals, where are u?!! You've done nothing to help them! Think of the children, their life matters!! These groups are corrupt, they do NOT speak for the unheard!! Shame on you if this goes ahead!

Great news 🖒

Autonomy, sure.

Lol, worked so well in the past. New Basic

Why dont they work on closing the gap themselves. Go to school, get jobs, have some ambition...

Another ATSIC ?

so who are these 'groups' and are they actually doing anything to help the people on the ground - the aborigines say they aren't - but they are enriching themselves at the expense of all Australians - IT IS CORRUPT - and its a LAND GRAB

Yeah, because the taxpayer doesn't waste enough money on unaccountable Indigenous organisations already 🤦🏻‍♂️

So what happens in 10 years when all the money is wasted, things are getting worse on the ground, & the demands for more special rights appear. The issue is a lack of personnel responsibility at a individual, parent, family & community level. How does more $$ fix that root cause?

What a waste of time and money ill guaranty they will fuck it up hope not but yes it will be an a grade cluster fuck

There is absolutely nothing currently standing in the way of pursuing solutions to the epidemic of violence, rape, & substance abuse decimating indigenous communities across the nation. This ‘news’ brings nothing new to the most significant issues affecting Indigenous Australians

They’ve had decades of easy access to the treasury, & as much control of the indigenous affairs bureaucracy as they can manage. Everybody has failed, or nobody has succeeded. Shifting of authority is not the answer. Requires a paradigm shift, a new approach from the ground up

more waste and bullshit we pay them enough already my son cant get free education free houses free rent cheap cars paid for by someone else free dental handouts all the time JoshFrydenberg ScottMorrisonMP ............... auspol

Leading to the rise of a new class of Aboriginal elites, leaving those who really need that funding still sitting in the dust.

Better change the constitution to allow some Indigenous laws than just keep giving money handouts.

Thats absurd. What other minority group gets to squander an obscene amount of tax payer funding?

Where is all the billions of dollars going that taxpayers fund the indigenous community TO THE FAT CATS & not where it should be going to those in remote communities & at risk women & children LiberalAus AustralianLabor POORLY MANAGED PORT FOLIOS by both political parties

Like fxxking hell

What Fucken gap

What gap they get lot more than I do, your pity for them does nothing to bring them into the main stream. They do not want to,it would mean working for a living. Having said that there are a lot of aboriginals that have made great success joining the main stream and power to them

This is great news!!!!

If the elders of the many traditional owners are responsible for the handing out of mining company royalties then maybe a more even spread for all is required 🤔

About bloody time

No. Why can’t our government understand money won’t fix this & you can’t buy people off like this.

You don't end up in jail because of your colour. You do so because of your actions. Handout the powers and handout the money then wait and see what the outcome is like. Those that break the law do so because they don't care so why is more money going to change that?

😡

More coconuts dreaming up more tokenism to feather their own lifestyles. NDIS a similar failure. The people who need the funding are lucky to see a fraction of it. AUDIT is a five letter word.

Let's hope they can no longer blame the Government and find a mirror.

Yeah it worked the last 39 times so what could go wrong

This won’t help the average Aboriginal. Throwing money at Indigenous issues won’t help.

So do we have apartheid now? Is it one law for all Australians or not?

How about the aborigines saying THANK YOU, and show some appreciation to the whiteman for increasing the aboriginal lifespan from 30 to 75 years, and for improving their lifestyle and general well being! Or is that too much to ask for!

Um, this was tried not so long ago, remember what happened? ATSIC ring any bells As long as the right checks and balances are in place, the same as for everyone else.

Is there an actual end to their demands and extortion?

So free money based on the color of ones skin?

Virgin Australia shareholders unlikely to be paid | Sky News AustraliaVirgin Australia’s administrators, Deloitte, has sent out a press release saying shareholders of the airline should not expect to get any money back. \n\nThe announcement did not come as a surprise to many, as shareholders are typically the last to get paid out when a company goes into administration. \n\nThe total value of Virgin Australia’s shares is about $725 million valued at 8.6 cents each.\n\nThere are minimal retail investors as the airline is 90 per cent foreign owned, so big corporations are the major losers of Deloitte’s announcement.\n\nImage: News Corp Australia\n Meanwhile the LNP govt gives a leg up to foreign-owned REX whose chairman just happens to be Mr John Sharp former federal National Party MP and Minister for Transport in the Howard government. Airlines globally are going under but REX announces expansion after receiving *grants*. I would be more interested in how much unsecured creditors will be repaid, ie cents in the dollar. I doubt the big shareholders expected to get anything out of the administration Take that.

Australia has to 'learn to live' with COVID-19 | Sky News AustraliaAustralia will regret its overreaction to the COVID-19 crisis, especially when it comes to the expensive decision to close state borders, according to Sky News host Chris Kenny.\n\nQueensland and South Australia have both placed restrictions on Victorians entering the state.\nPremier Annastacia Palaszczuk said while Victorians are barred from entering Queensland, other citizens from other states will be allowed in on July 10.\n\n“We don't stop driving because of the road toll,or shut down because of the annual loss of life from the flu, or close beaches because people drown every year,” Mr Kenny said.\n\n“We have to judge risks, manage them and think about costs and benefits”.\n\nGiven a vaccine is unlikely to emerge within the next 12 months, it is doubtful governments will still be panicking every time another state experiences a spike, Mr Kenny said.\n\n“So why are we creating fear and loathing, and crippling our economy now?\n\n“We have to learn to live with infections, slow them and manage them, we can't eradicate them.”\n\nImage: AP No no..
