Jan Winterbottom was already a registered sex offender when police raided his property in January 2019 over claims of child grooming and exploitation material. More than 970 videos and images of child exploitation material, bestiality and other abhorrent material were found during the police raid. In November he pleaded guilty to 16 charges, including indecent dealings and rape, against four different victims between 1994 and 2017. The busker was also in contact with three teenage girls who contacted him on Instagram and SnapChat in mid-2018. He was charged with three counts of indecent assault of a child under ten years old, and five counts of inciting aggravated indecency where the victim is under 16 and under authority of an offender. Two of his victims were aged 15 when they contacted the then-26-year-old and the messages turned sexual shortly after meeting. 'Power imbalance' Prosecutor Caja Polglase said the offending was ongoing and persistent and involved a degree of premeditation. He also sent the girls naked images of his torso. They also show the virus assembling and leaving human intestinal cells.
Advertisement One girl labelled his behaviour "creepy" and told police he became obsessive in a short period. In one instance he tried to bribe a victim with cigarettes. The man was refused bail and is due to appear at Raymond Terrace Local Court today. He also sent his third victim images of children being abused, told her of his sexual desire towards children and how he wanted to sexually assault them. Winterbottom's behaviour towards the teenage girl was "grotesque and vile", Victorian County Court Judge Claire Quin said on Tuesday. "There was a pronounced power imbalance between the victim and the offender," she said. He told her to take images of her performing sex acts and send them to him, then passed them around on social media and claimed she was his "slave". "You were depicting her to others in a cruel and demeaning fashion," Judge Quin said." Three victim impact statements submitted to the court stated the victims were still dealing with the trauma many years later. These findings could explain the fact that approximately one third of COVID-19 patients experience gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhoea, and the fact that the virus often can be detected in stool samples.
He had previously been granted a community corrections order for similar offending in 2015 but had breached court orders that he tell police about changes in his address. Winterbottom pleaded guilty to using a carriage service to groom a child under 16, failing to comply with reporting obligations, transmitting child pornography, soliciting child pornography using a carriage service, knowingly possessing child abuse material and possessing cannabis. He told the court his client had a difficult childhood and was exposed to alcohol abuse and domestic violence, but he had worked all his life since the age of 14. The judge took into account his deprived childhood, restricted situation in custody and limited availability of programs. However, Judge Quin said he had shown an inability to comply with court orders, there was a lack of remorse and a high risk of reoffending. Mr White said the Yeeda name was synonymous with the cattle industry, and noted that his client and his brother, Robin, were heavily involved with Lamboo Cattle Station west of Halls Creek. The 29-year-old was jailed for four years and six months and was registered as a serious sexual offender for life. This suggests that it can also spread via so-called “faecal-oral transmission”.
He must serve at least two years and nine months behind bars before he is eligible for parole and has already served 482 days. Yeeda pleaded guilty to the charges, but Mr White acknowledged this was after a trial date had been set.
