Police are investigating after reports a group of women posing as spiritual healers has scammed at least two people out of cash and jewellery in Melbourne's south.It is believed they would pray over jewellery and cash before swapping out the itemsA Victoria Police spokesperson said two women were both tricked by the group before their property was stolen.
"The offenders instructed the victims they can heal them by packaging their cash and jewellery and praying over it at a particular location," the spokesperson said. Police said the offenders would pray over the packages then swap the items over while the victims were unaware.The first scam reported to police happened in Cheltenham on February 14 and the second report took place three days later in St Kilda.
"A third woman told investigators she was approached by a group of women in a similar scenario in South Melbourne on March 11 but on this occasion the offenders left empty-handed," the Victoria Police spokesperson said. Police released CCTV footage of three women they believe may be able to help with their investigation.
