The Environment Protection Authority proposes a number of changes to ensure it operates more transparently, after the public were not told about two chemical leaks.

It also noted there was no public notification of the 2017 cadmium spill because it "had been contained on-site and was recorded on the EPA public register".

Minister for Environment and Water David Speirs said the EPA had no legal requirement to notify the public under their protocols, but the environment watchdog could "strengthen communication". "The board also noted that Nyrstar did not proactively notify the Port Pirie community, and asked that the review also consider how industry can be encouraged to take greater responsibility for keeping their neighbours, stakeholders and communities informed."Previously, the EPA only reported environmental incidents that posed a risk to public health but, under the proposed changes, this would be extended to include incidents where there is a high public interest.

David Harris was left to die alone after his NDIS payments were cut offThe sister of a Sydney man who died alone at home after his support payments were cut off is demanding an inquiry to establish how he was allowed to fall through the cracks. Truly appalling. This is Australia today,2020.Surely people who are recipients of NDIS must have a case manager who are advocates for them.Miss an appointment & payment stopped with no follow up.Disgusting. The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission said it had investigated Mr Harris's death and found there had been 'no breaches of the Code of Conduct by the provider'. I guess we wait for the inevitable coroner’s findings to find out if the “code of conduct” is up to scratch. Life is not easy for any of us. But what of that?
