The AFL is yet to decide if the grand final will be played at night.

"There's no doubt that that has to come in I believe. I think there's a chance it will happen this year," he said."Now Channel Nine and rugby league and Fox Sports do a fantastic job with the NRL because it's on a Sunday night. "So if you're in Melbourne and you don't follow NRL, you watch it because it's a big event. There it is in prime time on Channel Nine and you're watching it."Now the AFL are doing it on Saturday afternoon, and we're spending a fortune in Queensland and New South Wales everyone's out on the harbour on Saturday afternoon.

"Stick it in prime time. It's called prime time for a reason, because more people are available to watch it.The debate around the time of the AFL grand final has become a yearly tradition, with many arguing that more than a century of history shouldn't be discarded."I love the traditions of the Saturday afternoon, but the only reason that it wasn't played at night time, they didn't have lights in 1896," he said, tongue in cheek.
