ANALYSIS: Fremantle Dockers offer a $700,000 house to keep members as AFL clubs fight to survive coronavirus

First the league slashed salaries, stood down staff and borrowed about $500 million against Docklands Stadium just to keep the code alive. Some organisations, such as the West Coast Eagles, Richmond, Collingwood and Hawthorn, finished the 2019 year with healthy cash balances. The Eagles' on-field success has translated into financial security which many other clubs cannot match.

"We were planning on generating around $60 million [in] revenue this year," Dockers president Dale Alcock told ABC Radio Perth. But the biggest drawcard was the announcement of a grand raffle, with membership converted to tickets that could win you a $700,000 home.
