SA waste removalist Gavin Piller receives a suspended sentence for assaulting two environment protection officers, as his company is fined $49,000 for illegally storing more than 17 tonnes of asbestos.

A South Australian waste removalist convicted of assaulting two environment protection officers has been given a suspended sentence, but his company has been fined $49,000 for illegally storing more than 17 tonnes of asbestos. He "lost the plot" when he grabbed an environment officer and punched himThe Environmental, Resources and Development Court heard Gavin Piller snatched a camera and audio recorder from the hands of the officers from SA's Environment Protection Authority .

The court heard Piller's company, GP and Sons, had a history of complaints dating back to August 2015, when the EPA attended one of the company's sites to discuss concerns over a large amount of dust causing an environmental nuisance. Piller was convicted of two counts of assaulting an EPA officer, using abusive language and two counts of hindering an EPA officer.

"Despite the seriousness of the assault I am satisfied good reason exists to suspend the sentence on the basis of Gavin Piller's guilty plea and his reformed character as demonstrated by his hard working and charitable qualities over the past 36 years."GP and Sons pleaded guilty to illegally stockpiling seven tonnes of asbestos at its Wingfield depot between January 29 and February 2, 2018, and a further 10 tonnes at its Largs Bay depot between March 27 and May 2, 2018.

Pity!

$49,000 in fines, we are a joke. Businesses laugh at a fine like that, its well worth the risk when dealing with asbestos because correct storage would cost similar. Need it to be 10 times that and he be banned from dealing with asbestos removal or storage for life

Of course because males get away with everything if they're white

Mesothelioma is a killer. Cowboys need to be removed from the removal business. Attacks against public servants must result in jail. Otherwise their vital work will be impossible. I smell corruption.

piss weak judges. He should have done some time behind bars

Bloke probably had a shitty day and the enviro officer was probably being a dick. If you have a narrative ABC, so can i

I'm not sure this sends the right message. Who is going to protect the environmental protection officers?

The former submariner took influential politician Nick Xenophon's seat in federal parliament in 2017. Bwahahahahaha... A moment of silence for Centre Alliance, a -19% swing against them and a third of their Parliamentary team leaving doesn't bode well for them... Rex is awesome! He speaks his mind and doesn't hold back. He stands up for Aussies (and Aussie jobs) and he's very active with his Facebook followers. Any party that loses him will be suffering for the loss

Police ethical standards officer convicted of sexual assaultA police officer who boasted he worked with the Professional Standards Command of Victoria Police, is convicted of sexually assaulting a man at a Melbourne bar. It's worth repeating, people thought we would have had a different outcome in hotel quarantine in Victoria if the police or army were in charge. Neither force has a clean reputation and I'm sure would have been looking to have some fun with the hotel guests. Related to peter dutton no doubt auspol That's not very ethical.

Disturbing moment sobbing 8yo with ‘special needs’ cuffed at schoolDisturbing footage shows the moment a police officer handcuffed a crying eight-year-old boy and took him to jail in a police car after a 2018 incident at his elementary school. It’s 2018 video It’s an old video !! Been around for ages. The media need to stop fanning the flame of hatred and division..... maybe the reporting of this crap is the reason the world is in the state that it is. If the boy is self-harming there should be someway to avoid the same. Rather than flaming you need to provide a solution. It is very very sad and my heart hurts.. But dont flame..
