The US struck a conciliatory note about its relations with South Africa relations in the wake of a turbulent diplomatic crisis, speaking of"positive" interactions with top government officials, including President Cyril Ramaphosa, at a trade conference this week.
US deputy secretary of commerce Don Graves said on Friday both he and US ambassador Reuben Brigety spent quality time with Ramaphosa and Trade, Industry and Competition Minister Ebrahim Patel during the African Growth Opportunities Act forum at Nasrec in Johannesburg. "And I will tell you that the conversations that I’ve had with President Ramaphosa, with Minister Patel and with other members of the South African delegation, have been nothing but positive. We are focused on the great opportunities that we have between us, the deep friendship and shared values between our nations and across the continent."South Africans need to be in the know if we want to create a prosperous future.
