Mokoena advised to make Belgium move Jan 21, 2022 - 08:28 am By Staff Reporter Premiership SuperSport United midfielder Teboho Mokoena has been advised to prioritise a move to Europe over a lucrative offer from DStv Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns. According to reports, Anderlecht – coached by former Manchester City defender Vincent Kompany – have tabled an R20 million bid for the Bafana Bafana international. However, Sundowns are believed to have made a huge R25 million offer, more than double their R10 million initial offer. Scroll through the gallery to see the 10 most valuable No. 10s in the DStv Premiership "Belgium is the best league from which the top leagues here in Europe look for players coming in on the cheap," Valery Nahayo tells KickOff from Belgium where he now lives since retiring. Nahayo played in Belgium’s topflight for KAA Gent before also spending time in the lower divisions following his time in the PSL with Jomo Cosmos, Kaizer Chiefs and Mpumalanga Black Aces. "The situation at Anderlecht has improved since Vincent Kompany came because they have now moved up the standings from lower positions, so they are more competitive. "They will definitely improve his earnings from what he is getting at SuperSport United even though the tax here in Belgium is around 50%. This is a move that will benefit the player if he has bigger ambitions than only being the best in South Africa. "This will be a good move for him for the sake of growth because he will face different challenges and get to play in Europe. Considering that you say he is turning 25 this is the last chance for him to move into a club in Europe from where he will move on to bigger things. Anderlecht uses more youth players because this is a league from which players are bought. "Anderlecht doesn’t have the biggest of budgets but R20 million is not huge for them because they stand to make more out of the player if he succeeds. R20 million is like about 1 million which is nothing for Anderlecht who will argue that this is a player who is not familiar with Europe," says Nahayo. Share
