LIVE: Zuma's 'Stalingrad defence' and 'luxurious litigation' at taxpayers' expense caused delays - State argues at ZumaTrial

Trengove tells the court about Ngcuka and Pikoli's decisions to charge Zuma."There is not a shred of evidence to support the contention the decisions to prosecute were politically motivated," he says.In the DA's quest for Mpshe's decision to be set aside, there were two interlocutory applications . Together, these applications took 54 months to deal with, four years roughly.

This led to another interlocutory application, this time by the DA, to compel the inclusion of the spy tapes records. "Whatever the motive of the litigation was, the effect was to delay the prosecution," Trengove tells the court. NOTE: Trengove argues that yes, Mpshe's decision was unlawful. But it was still what Zuma wanted.

It was during these representations that the Zuma legal team presented the"spy tapes" to Mpshe, who later said this pushed him to withdraw the charges.

But since when do we have to pay for the defence of those criminally charged, no wonder his defence stretches this court procedure, from one year to the next. Just because he was a previous president, blamed for the demise of this economy, this govt wrongfully foot his legal bil

Can argue against that..even this weeks attempt for a permanent stay is also a waste of time.. The old man should start his sentence in Kokstad prison

If only news articles came in 3ply😩

Zuma is wasteful and expired expenditure and should be treated as such !

If he does, it means justice has not been served and the SA population has a right to be furious. This man asked for his day in court and has done nothing but try and stay out of court for the last 15 years. We all know he is GUILTY, we demand justice for this thief. Still not one ANC thief in jail for state capture. A hang-able offence 26 years ago. Still no justice! He is guilty and so are a number of other ANC members. If this fails, the our justice system is a farce.
