The legal representatives of 12 of the accused in the University of Fort Hare criminal case intend challenging Thursday's ruling that the Alice Magistrate's Court has jurisdiction to hear the case.
On Wednesday, the defence teams argued the court, sitting in Dimbaza, had no jurisdiction to handle the alleged fraud and corruption case. They argued their clients' warrants of arrest stated they needed to appear in the East London Magistrate's Court, and not in Alice or Dimbaza.
