Woman with knife shot by North Richland Hills police officer

Cell phone video captured the aftermath of the shooting Tuesday. The woman was injured and taken to a hospital. She's expected to survive.The woman's family tells FOX 4 she suffers from mental health problems and has had past encounters with police.Just after 11:30 am Tuesday, North Richland Hills police say an officer shot a woman who threatened officers with a knife at an apartment complex near Rufe Snow Drive and 820.

Cell phone video sent to FOX 4 shows the moments after the woman was shot. The officer holding the shield appears to kick the knife onto the cement. Both officers then backed away.No officers were injured, according to police.The woman’s family sent FOX 4 a picture of the knife they say she was holding when she was shot.Paramedics quickly arrived on scene. The woman was transported to the hospital and is expected to survive. Police did not release her name.
