North Richland Hills police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that took place around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 4200 block of Rufe Snow Drive. , police received a call around 11:30 a.m. reporting a person in crisis and described as being out of control. Officers responded to the 4200 block of Rufe Snow Drive, where they found a woman in the parking lot breaking items, the release said.

The woman then returned to her apartment and officers followed, the release said. Police knocked on her door and the woman exited the apartment and advanced toward one of the officers while wielding a knife and threatening him and the officer to shoot her, the release said.The release said the officers rendered medical aid to the woman until an ambulance arrived and took her to a hospital, where she was listed in stable condition Tuesday afternoon.

The release said the officer was placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of two investigations. The North Richland Hills’ criminal investigation division is reviewing the incident to see if any crimes were committed, and the department’s professional standards office will review to ensure correct procedure was followed, the release said.It is unclear if the woman involved in the incident is facing any charges. The woman and the involved officer are not named in the release.
