According to TMC President and CEO Bill McKeon, the COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the risk of depending on manufacturing from overseas, as many hospitals struggled to secure personal protective equipment and other critical supplies. The Texas Medical Center plans to build a 500-acre biomanufacturing and medical supplies distribution center at the intersection of Buffalo Speedway and Holmes Road Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2022, in Houston.The TMC BioPort campus will be on a piece in Southwest Houston, near the intersection of Holmes Rd. and Buffalo Speedway just west of Wildcat Golf Club, according to the report.
