Texas to expand voluntary lead testing in schools, childcare centers

Texas will expand voluntary lead testing in schools and day care centers.

The program is part of a nationwide effort to improve drinking water infrastructure, particularly in disadvantaged and underserved communities. Exposure in children can cause slowed growth, impaired hearing, behavior and learning problems, and lower IQs. Young children are particularly vulnerable to the health effects of lead on the brain and nervous system, according to the EPA.
